According to this. Anyone believes he should've retired after losing his title? I think he could've continued a few more fights before retiring, although it is a smart move to retire young... Thoughts?

I know it might come over as fascist, but I seriously think all boxers/fighters should be "forced" to retire after X amount of fights or Y amount of knockouts.

He is waaaaaaaaaaaay smarter than most of his peers to retire young while he still has his mind intact.

Does anyone know how much he made on his last fight, or during his career ? That would be the reason why he retired. As his last words were, " Thanks for the Cheddar" Lol ..

Fighting like they do i simply a stupid thing to do to your body, you can easily die. He's making a good choice as far as i'm concerned.

That's a personal choice. If the fighter believe that there's no longer any fight left in him, then people need to respect that decision.

The racket guy from wwf? The fact remains, UFC has taken the WWE route in sooo many ways. PrideFC went hand in hand with Japanese pro wrestling, and it didn't even feel as fixed as this stuff.

Curious to see the real reason he "retired". But latest I read was because he demanded 10 million for UFC 200 and looks like UFC weren't budging.

Sounds like Dana White made a mistake. He knows McGregor's worth gold, yet the UFC doesn't want to cut him in on that. Sure - it's a lot of money, but it's a risky job and incredibly taxing on the body (and mind), and if McGregor is the draw, he should be compensated for that.

I know the UFC is spinning it as just a misguided attempt by McGregor to get more money...and that still could be at least partially true. But a lot of signs by people digging into the affair points towards him being very shaken up by the recent death of a fellow Irish MMA fighter following a recent match as sapping his desire to train or fight. Time will tell I suppose.

It wasn't a fellow Irish fighter that died. The guy that died was Portuguese and he died fighting an Irish fighter.

He trained with the guy that died as well. That might have shaken him up. I'm all for him retiring if they dont give him 10 million. The UFC is a cartel, and has been underpaying 95% of their fighters for over a decade.

Looks like he's not retired after all:

https://www.facebook.com/thenotoriousmma/posts/1260441947357435

I am just trying to do my job and fight here.

I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote.

I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting.

There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop.

50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I'm left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this.

Nothing else was going through my mind.

It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life.

Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a **** morning show did not get me this life.

Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a **** about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now.

I'm coming for my revenge here.

I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep.

With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight.

I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again.

I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.

But it was denied.

There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me.

So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them.

And all with one tweet.

Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good.

I must isolate myself now.

I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time.

I can not dance for you this time.

It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I've danced us all the way here.

Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it.

He came in with no shit to do that last one. I'd already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out.

Maybe I'll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation.

I'm doing what I need for me now.

It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way.

I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway.

I am still ready to go for UFC 200.

I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions.

If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don't know what to say.

For the record also -

For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations -

I AM NOT RETIRED.

That might be the wrong question to ask. It should be "How much did all the fighters on the card account for a portion of that 400 mil?" Not nearly enough. Not even remotely close. Mcgregor is raking in the bucks, but the average fighter might make 10-20 grand per fight. Maybe they get 3 fights a year, maybe.

$30-60k a year? That's it?

Sure alot of people dont earn $30-$60k a year but at the same time, fighting could lead to brain damage and is way more risky than a office job.

Lower card fighter may get 5000 to show, 5000 to win. And they dont get health insurance for the UFC, so if you get injured in training, or your opponent does, your are straight ****ed.

They get health insurance, but its bs. If you are in training for a fight and get injured, they'll cover you. Anyhting else you are screwed. They screw over fighters by using language tricks. Not far away from the independent contractor label.

I was leading towards the NFL/WWE don't really care about they're respective roster.

These companies will quickly dropped you if they feel you can't make them money anymore. And speaking of health insurance, I think WWE wrestlers have to pay their on bills to like traveling.

Its true, that was a quote from McGregor, i read the article. McGregor got paid 12 Million from my understanding, and he wants more. He said he is paid to fight, not to promote. When he promotes, lots of other people get paid, and he does not. Promoting is a big deal, basically he wants to get paid for promoting also. Like TMZ said, he's just being a little Bitch.

In our real life prospective, we all make chump change compared to what our bosses make, and what the company we work for make. Thats just how it is. I would be fired if i walked into my bosses office and said, we are a billion dollar company, and i demand a bigger salary. Lol .. Just so not gonna happen.

Definitely high-stakes poker. But if Fox's NFL commentary team are any indication, McGregor's appeal extends far beyond the dedicated UFC follower and he may end up at least earning himself a bigger share of the UFC pie. What can't be denied is that he's a great self-publicist, and both he and his equally-canny manager knows his worth.

@PSP107 - Correct, promoting the fight is what makes the big $$ , and it was in his contract. Greed is all.

@hillelslovak - They provide him with a private jet to take him where he needs to go, and they bring all his personal gym needs, punching bags, equipment and all. He has no excuses. Its all greed.

@hillelslovak - They provide him with a private jet to take him where he needs to go, and they bring all his personal gym needs, punching bags, equipment and all. He has no excuses. Its all greed.

I didnt know they went that far. I still feel this is a situation where both sides are wrong. Both are greedy, and dont give a crap about the majority of the fighters, just gimme gimme gimme.

That's why in the business of sports, you got to maximizes your earning potential while you can. These corporations don't care about the performers.

Maybe it's not too long before the UFC starts want to make it's own stadiums like the NFL NBA and MLB. I'm sure the UFC will go the same route and demand taxpayers foot the bill, then watch the UFC keep 100 percent of the profits. It is owned by two Casino owners, after all. Maybe the scummiest type of "owner" in the world.

It's all about money the UFC has Mc running all over the place. He and maybe Rhonda do way more media than all the rest of the fighters in the UFC. Many fighters putting their lives and health on the line plus doing promotion for 10-25k a fight. Out of that money they have to pay for training (not cheap) and if they get hurt in training they don't get paid.

For most jobs if you make a mistake you don't end up in the hospital and get humiliated on tv.
