Columbia tries to change whites only scholarship

- Old woman dies in 1920
- Leaves estate money to university for a scholarship that can only be awarded to whites
- University wants to change the scholarship

First of all, I think all race-based scholarships are stupid. I also think that if the university no longer wishes to abide by the woman's original request for the estate money, they need to give the remaining funds to descendants. You can't change the stipulations of an agreement just because you have a politically correct **** in your @ss.

Race related scholarships are dumb to begin with, but I don't see an issue with a white only scolarship if scolarships that are for blacks or native Americans are considered "okay".

Here's a wiki article on white Hispanics in the US. I find it hard to believe that over half of Hispanics in the US are white. Most seem to be mixed (mestizo).

Agreed, although this is essentially what many elite schools have started to do.  Most Ivies and the like barely offer scholarships, and mostly hand out financial aid to those who need it.

Ofc, this doesn't mean that minorities aren't given a tad bit of leeway on standarized test scores and etc. 

I assume this is an internal scholarship, handed out by the university?  So as long as they are consistent in removing all scholarships with racial requirements.

However, for external scholarships, they don't really have control over those and they are generally distributed by private groups, often racial/ethnic (ex. south pacific islanders) which is fine.

Easy solution. Use that money on the white students. Use you other scholarship funds for students of other races.

Give the money back. If you want to help people then help those that actually need the help, there's only one race and thats the Human race.
