I don't support this at all.

in some ways i am being sarcastic because y'know... human rights and all but in other ways i'm not.

i find it disturbing that  we breed like an out of control rat population.

at some point our population is going to crash hard and more human misery than we can even contemplate will be unleashed.

why is breeding a right and not a privilege?

why do we have no standards for who is allowed to breed?

why is it some kind of tragedy that some horrible person like in the story who is not taking care of the 5 children they already have allowed to make more?

18,000 children starve to death every single day.

why do we allow those least capable of caring for them to make more?

it's a tough gig because if you start to lay out the cold hard facts people are simply not going to like it.

i get that nobody wants to hear this and that i am the asshole here for bringing it up.

what i think is what they are going to like even less is what happenes to any animal population that breeds on a runaway basis.

what if we could make an additive to the water and once you prove you are able to support a child you get the "cure"?

The morality of forcing people to get sterilized is questionable, but so is having eight kids on a $14,000 a year salary. At lest in the US we have WIC and food stamps, can't say the same about third world countries where people have ten kids or more.

I made that comment because California's eugenics program actually was the template for Nazi eugenics.

Disgusting and outrageous.  Those responsible should be sterilized.

Serraph105

yeah cause that's the way to deal with crimes, eye for an eye...........oh wait my sarcasm is made pointless by the existence of the death penalty.

What could possibly be more fair than to sterilize them?

[QUOTE="comp_atkins"] and people want to ban abortion... monsters. lostrib

my plan to use the water supply to distribute birth control would almost completly eliminate abortion.

they would be unneeded.

because until you were ready to have children you would just not take the antidote.

it's also a fantasy

oh yeah it is totally a stupid little fantasy i can't disagree with that.

people would never do it even if they were stepping over corpses in the street.

but, it would work like a charm.

no it wouldn't.  Unless this is a magic drug that you just pulled out of imagination land.  Not to mention possibilities of getting around this drug or countering it

you think any system would be 100% effective? look at the planet. it is covered in life. if it's good at nothing else, it's replicating itself, despite hurdled put in it's path :P

nothing would ever be 100% effective.

for one the rich parts of society would bypass it easily just like everything else.

i guess we could always just target it then.

maybe put it in mountain dew and super cheap beer.

i think the details we could work around.

what we could never work around is how people freak out if you go after their ability to reproduce.
