Bill Nye to debate some Creationism dude live tonight

After two weeks of hype about a football game that turned out to be far less exciting than expected and after what feels like two months' worth of reports about wicked winter weather, it's nice to have something completely different to talk about — even if it's a topic that sparks heated discussion:

Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, it's evolution vs. creationism when Bill Nye "the science guy" and Ken Ham, founder of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Ky., debate onstage (and live online, for free, here and here).

Should be pretty funny but I really think Bill should not have agreed to this lol seems like a waste of his time + arguing with Creationists is an exercise in futility.

Ugh. They aren't going to convert anyone, either way. I like Bill Nye, but he'd have more success debating a brick wall, which would be just as stubborn but at least more intelligent.

It really is baffling. I can at least understand the "logic" behind intelligent design, but creationism is just totally ridiculous.

To be fair, it's not a pressing issue in day to day life for most people.

I think its not about just religion anymore. I think this debate lends itself to a larger human debate about our perspectives 'sharing vs ownership' of things. Ourselves, products, technology, ideas etc.

Our understanding of our origins can influence to some degree what side of the debate a person falls on.

We see it in creationism vs evolution. We see it in the debate of capitalism vs communism, we see it in debates about copyright, and artistic debates about sampled music vs traditionally played music.

I'm hoping it goes kind of like Jon Stewart on Crossfire

No it's been on topic. However towards the end of his presentation he concluded that by ignoring the biblical account of creation as more ramifications than just belief in evolution.
