Bill Cosby admitted in a 2005 deposition that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with. He admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman.

The Associated Press went to court to compel the release of the documents, and they were made public Monday. Cosby's lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.

If you had held a gun to my head I would go with guilty, but I didn't "knew". I deal with evidence/data. I have not follow this case closely but correct me if I'm wrong, aside from testimony (which yes, kept accumulating) there wasn't much hard evidence. Rape kits either were not available (as in widely distributed in the US at the time the rapes took place) or simply not used. Some of these women were too scare to go to the police and evidence couldn't be gathered in many instances.

Actually he specifically admitted to acquiring the drugs with the intent of using them for acquiring sex with women, that does not logically single out his intentions to rape (though, all things considered, that's probably what it was used for), after all people do use drugs like these recreationally for sex, and some women just wanna get fucked up before getting fucked, and some people use all kinds of drugs to enhance sexual pleasure. I did hear reporting that he was specifically asked afterwards more clarification on the matter, in which he didn't provide any answer. From a legal standpoint though, it wouldn't be enough to convict him criminally, but apparently was enough to mediate a civil settlement on the matter (lower burden of proof there).

Well, if Cosby did assault those women he could consider himself lucky that the statute of limitations has passed for them. Since he's in his late 70s, he probably has enough to live off of until he dies if he never works again in Hollywood.

Someone must be writing the script as we speak. Who do you think could play Cosby? Will Smith? Perhaps someone younger like the guy who played Jackie Robinson in 42?

So much for the cordial and sagacious father figure and role model for the black community. This is creepy as hell and profoundly scandalous.

And who says the he actually gave it to the women against their will? or gave it to any women? Cosby might be guilty as sin but that has to be proven in a court of law not in the social media.

Even if the smoking gun is not present, you must look at the individual(s) who made such claims. Some of these women are famous and filthy rich in their own right and had nothing to gain but everything to lose by making these accusations against Cosby. If a person is wrongly accused, he/she needs to look at every camera and tell everyone he/she didn't do it. Remaining silent is not reassuring.

Sure, I'm just making a differentiation between between being 100% and "knowing" or "thinking that you know". I find the apparent self-assurance in absolute certitude without airtight evidence of some in this thread disturbing.

We aren't in disagreement on whether we thought Cosby was guilty but on the degree of certitude.

You may be right , but i don't think there is any doubt that the 2 ladies who are suing are only in this for the cash and nothing else, they are hoping Cosby will pay them off.

As to the charges , well even though its 40 and some may be true, again its a court of law not a lawsuit that should decide that, also i think a lot of them if not all has a serious case of Golddiggers disease and you can bet that many if not all will join the 2 ladies in the lawsuit.

A lot of people just call him a rapist on youtube, in the comment section or they even make their own video. While there is no evidence that he raped anyone. All he said was that he bought qualudes to give to young women to have sex.

Sorry but qualudes in those days were an aphrodisiac and party drug (hasn't anyone seen here the wolf of wall street lmao) it is a drug forbidden now, even forbidden to manufacture because it's so addictive. Calling it a sedative isn't really the right word in this case. It may has been classified as a sedative, but that wasn't why it was used. Hence that it is now illegal to manufacture it or sell it, or even use it.

It's same as he would say that he bought heroine to have sex, if that was legal back then. If those women took this then that is their responsability. IF someone give you heroine right now, are you really going to complain that you passed out , what a load of bullocks. These women weren't some country girls that didn't know about the world, they were all in the industry. This was the sixties, seventies and eighties and those women knew very well what drugs were.

I'm not saying he didn't do this, or that he isn't a rapist, but i'm certainly not going to claim that he's a rapist because those women accuse him in social media. Social media isn't the court of law, and all those talk show host and hostess don't have any legal power. The people in the comment sections, well i'm not even sure those are grownups.

Thanks , but you're making the same mistake as a lot of people. There is no middle ground here, Either he did rape one or more women, or he didn't. There is no likely. When you say likely , you implying that he's a rapist while you'er not sure.

Let me give you an example, when you live next to a nuclear reactor, and they say it's likely going to blow up, you're going to get the hell outta of there. When they say it's not likely going to blow up, but it's possible , then you're getting out of there as well.

Either way, you're not going to stay there if there's a chance it's going to blow up.

With bill cosby , some people are jeaulous, or racist or they're simply to young and/or stupid to make a correct assessment of the situation and they use these allegations to bring him down. People with common sense that don't dislike him for any reason are going to give him the benefit of the doubt because there's no proof. Those women can say what they want, maybe they are all mad because they got turned down by a black man or maybe because they had sex with a black man when they were high and feel sorry afterwards.

The fact that whoopi goldberg changed her stance towards cosby because abc wanted it is only one of the examples of the forces that could be at work here. The fact that the media is spinning bill cosby statements is even worse and shouldn't go without punishment. Of course it's up to cosby to defend himself in the states, but i don't think he can go up against big media concerns. In europe this would be different, spinning information for sensation is punishable by law here (belgium), wether the victim files a complaint or not.

And again, i don't want to defend him, but i am certainly not going to judge him, that's not my place. I'm no judge and if i was, i'm not handling this case.

There can be a hundred people accusing you of whatever, without proof it means nothing and it's just plain slander if there's no conviction. In that regard, with the free roaming social media, we have gone back 500 years in time, the future will prove it.
