What do you think's the best TV show of all time (dramas only)?  For me it's easily Breaking Bad.  I just want to see what OT's favorite show is, but since there are so many great ones out there it's impossible to make a poll.

Currently, Breaking Bad is the second highest-rated show on IMDb, number one being Planet Earth, making BrBa the highest rated drama series on the site.  It's followed by Game of Thrones, Cosmos and The Wire.

Do you mean only 'TV' and not HBO or Showtime etc?

If so, Breaking Bad easily.

Otherwise, The Wire and Breaking Bad would compete for it.

Probably The Wire. Breaking Bad was extremely good, but really outlandish in parts, and was pretty much written in a matter to purely keep the tension high. It's really hard to compete with The Wire because The Wire has lengthier episodes with a lot more density. There's so much more that goes on in that show and it's truly greater than the sum of its parts. It feels like there are a million memorable characters from the show, each complete with their own perfect arcs that occur over the 5 seasons. Also, The Wire was pretty educational.

The Wire, Deadwood, and Breaking Bad consist of the holy trinity of dramas, with The Wire front and centre.

But how would we know that Breaking Bad is the greatest show in the universe if we aren't constanly reminded of it?

I struggle to choose between The Wire and Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is still fresh so I want to say that; but on the other hand I've watched The Wire series about 4 times and so I wanted to say it is the best. Either way they are two of, if not the two, best drama series' ever.

Breaking Bad for now, but I'll have to see how Mad Men ends first. It's going to be hard to top the final season of Breaking Bad. I absolutely loved LOST as well, but I don't think it has the same consistency of Breaking Bad or Mad Men.

Twin Peaks had its moments, but I have to opine that it had way too much crap. Way too much stupid $hit like Nadine Hurley losing her memory and becoming a high school cheerleader, or any of that garbage romance stuff that was going on between Audrey Horn and that other dude. I could list a whole lot of other stuff, but do I really need to? Watching it felt like searching for nuggets of gold in a stream of raw sewage.

I don't know why people keep asking this, because at this point it's simply a fact that The Wire is the greatest show in TV history. The king stays the king.

I probably have to give it Lost.  I watched it religiously for all 6 seasons.  I can't say that about any other series.

But The Walking Dead is certainly making its mark.

I've never seen Breaking Bad.  It was like I never heard of it until recently, then all of the sudden everyone is talking about out of nowhere.  So I guess I need to go back and watch from the beginning.

Trying to watch Game of Thrones now, still in season one.  Still don't know what to think.  It doesn't really have a coherent story, but it is good.  It's standard HBO stuff where they have to show nudity in every episode, for ratings sakes only.

For dramas yes but if you take into consideration overall influence I think The Twilight Zone is still at the top.

lol just looked up the wikipedia page: Oz took advantage of the freedoms of premium cable to show material that was too excessive for traditional American broadcast television, including elements of coarse language, drug use, violence, male frontal nudity, homosexuality and male rape, as well as ethnic and religious conflicts.[2] #yolo

Oz was about violent people in a violent place, it wasn't gratuitous, and doesn't detract from the quality of the show.

I don't know. I don't watch much TV...but what I have seen always "jumps the shark" because Hollywood doesn't want to let go. I see several mentions of Lost in here.....and that is a classic case of what I'm talking about. It started out interesting but lost (no pun intended) focus along the way. By the time it was over....the series was tarnished for me. The Others were just such a let down....and then all that other crap they threw in.
