i just started to learn how to play guitar about a week ago. i think i need new guitar strings because now everytime i am playing my guitar, i feel like i am breathing in a lot of nickel and when i slide my finger down the strings i get kind of like black/silver stuff on my fingers. i am just wondering what kind of stirings would you guys reccommend for an electric guitar.

Everyone has their favorites, best is to just try a few different kinds out and see what you like. Strings are pretty cheap, it's worth seeing what works for you.

I myself like Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky strings.

I've used Ernie Ball Super Slinky's for a very long time. They work fine for me.

I too, usually go with Ernie's. And Dunlop strings aren't too bad either.

Just get some medium gauge strings if you're starting out. I use nickel coated ones.

It's not a huge deal. However, make sure you change all six strings. You MIGHT need some help with this as changing a whole set can be a bit of a pain in the ass, especially when you've not done it before. If you can't get someone with experiance to help you, I would recommend finding a Youtube video to show you how.

i suggest DR's dimebag high outputs..

they sound really sharp when there new. they dont last forever but there worth it for the sound they put out. really loud as well if your into distorted jamming.

what kind? the titaniums?

I believe they're nickel plated steel. They come in a bright pink package and every music store has them.

I have been playing guitar for a while now and I recommend you go with:

D'Addario Regular Light Gauge Nickel Wound strings (EXL110)

I always use these strings and they are great. They also keep there tone longer than Ernie ball strings. Depending on your playing style, you might choose a different type of strings or gauge, but if right now you don't know, go with these. I also highly recommend you go out and buy some GHS fast-fret or some sort of string cleaner for faster, smoother playing. This will also get rid of most of the crap left on the strings since they will be nice and cleaned!

Here is a link for the fast fret

http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/GHS-FastFret-String-Cleaner?sku=420451

Hope that helps and keep rocking the six string!

I use these as well. For Fender type guitars with cla@@ic style humbuckers, I would try Fender Super Bullets.

Mercury_May2112

ive gotten these before and they actually only lasted three days. of course i play more then most but i was suprised at how short the lifespan was. maybe i just got a bad set. thats why i like the dimes (DR's) more, they last about a week to two weeks depending on how hard you hit em.
