I'll throw in a couple of modern bands to compliment yours...

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm (never quite fufiled their potential after their fantastic debut)

Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters (some may poo-poo it, by I thought it was a fantastic and refreshing debut at the time)

Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden

Alice In Chains - Facelift

Savatage - Sirens

Glad someone else likes The Scissor sisters debut album. I thought it was very good and catchy. Their second album was a bit hit and miss, but their most recent album Nightshift is pretty good. I like Bloc Party's debut too, but their most recent album Intimacy was pretty mediocre.

Couple of others:

Gang of Four - Entertainment! (I've mentioned them too much but anyway...)

Wire - Pink Flag

Sex Pistols - Never Mind... (Although regarded as a little contrived/produced I still think it was a great album :P)

I think their first was great - far better than Ta-Dah IMO, which to be honest has put me off testing out their new one. I think Bloc Party have slowly getting worse with each release...

The Smiths - S/T, The Prodigy - Experience, Weezer - Blue S/T, X - Los Angeles, Tortoise - S/T, Fugazi - Repeater. Some of my favorites, sometimes the best of their discographies...just kind of random though.

Guns N Roses and The Killers I'm totally with. Not sure about Kill 'em All though, only because I thought Ride the Lightening was better and Master... better still (that's just me though perhaps...). I'd say the same for Alice in Chains - although We Die Young was always one of my favourite Alice in Chains songs :P

1. Killers - Hot Fuss. This album was just amazing, I was 13 or 14 when I first heard it and it was amazing, however their follow up stuff was terrible(Sam's Town, the abbey road version is an exception)

2. The Art -EP. Even though their album isn't out yet, the EP is highly promising.

3. The Pixies - Come on Pilgrim.

4. Iron Maiden - Self Titled

5. Muse- Showbiz. Most people I know disliked Showbiz but really liked it.

Yeah, I think I slightly prefer Dirt, but Facelift was still an amazing debut. Also, I've grown to love Kill 'Em All more than Ride The Lightning, which used to be my favourite Metallica album, as you probably figured out from my sig :P.

Iron Maidens first 2 albums were their best, when Bruce came along i just cant listen to them much at a time, the operatic vocals get to me.

In no way are his vocals operatic.

You are quite right. Ichabod and I was their first, and I remember loving it a while back. However it is tough to get a copy now since they printed only about 500.

On the Last Day- Meaning in the Static (it's not their first release but it is their first full album)
Dredg-El Cielo
Bright Eyes-Letting Off the Happiness (funny thing is thier later albums were even better)
Minus the Bear-Highly Refined Pirates

I'm sure there are more but this is all I can think of at the moment.

This one, if you like "thinking man's" rap where the lyrics actually have meaning and there is no talk of drugs and no swears.
