I've read the first two Halo books, and Contact Harvest. The first one was the best, it gave MC's backstory. I bought Resident Evil: Extinction a few weeks ago, which I guess is a book based on a movie, based on a game. The Splinter Cell books are pretty cool too.

You?

I have never read a book based on a video game. It seems stupid to me. But, I haven't tried it, so I can't really say.

Resident Evil 3 City of Undead.. Based off the Resident Evil 2 game.. It seems word for word pretty much..

Warhammer 40k books though are the best.. They are based in the universe Dawn of War takes after.. And it really puts to shame any other sci-fi universe out there, including ones like Starcraft Halo, or even Starwars imo.

The only one I've read is Hitman: Enemy Within, which was mediocre.

For me, the best video game-based books have been the books from the Halo series. Awesome books. I also like the Splinter Cell books too.

The only one I have read is Diablo: Legacy of Blood and I actually liked it. I have two more Diablo books, but haven't gotten to reading them yet. So I guess I'm going to have to say Diablo: Legacy of Blood for now.

The Warhammer novels do have some great authors writing them, so I'd say those are good bets, but they truly aren't based on any games, just based on the source the games were based on.

I've read probably half of the Blizzard game based novels. The Warcraft novels received MUCH better treatment than the Starcraft novels. Half of the Starcraft novels are either based on the games campaigns making them boring or just complete trash. Blizzard has a tendancy to rehire authors even though they're abysmal writers like Aaron Rosenburg.

I just recently started collecting the Diablo books. I refuse to read Rosenburg's Warcraft novels because he wrote one of the worst books and portrayals of the Starcraft universe/characters. None of the books are stellar, but many of them are decent while capturing the charm of the series.

The Halo novels are probably the best I've read mainly thanks to Eric Nylund. He breaths so much life into the game world and puts a ridiculous amount of detail into everything.

When I go to Chapters I usually see a lot of books related to Dungons and Dragons, Warhammer, and Magic the Gathering. Are they any good by any chance?
