This topic is locked from further discussion.
Can't honestly name anyone specific until the 70s, but there was a lot of awesome music in the first half of the century.
70s: Black Sabbath
80s: New Order
90s: Beck and Gang Starr are pretty much tied (if it was 1995 - 2005 then Beck would win) and De La Soul is a close second

10s: ceo
These are favorites, because I really don't feel qualified to say who's the "best".
60's- Frank Zappa
70's- Black Sabbath
80's- Iron Maiden
90's- Gorguts
00's- Ugh this is hard. Either Mitochondrion or Gigan. Not sure about this decade yet.

I'm leaving out a lot, and I know some of the dating isn't correct, but I placed the bands in their most relevant decade (or if they started very late into one decade, then I moved them up)
60s: the beatles, velvet underground, miles davis, the rolling stones, jimi hendrix
70s: talking heads, joy division, marvin gaye, gang of four, misfits, the jam

[QUOTE="chessmaster1989"]Off the top of my head... 60s: Led Zeppelin 70s: Black Sabbath 80s: Megadeth 90s: Death 00s: Nile 10s: not sure yet...ArmoredCore55Death released their first album in 1987, and Nile released their first album in 1998.
I'm going based off what albums they released during the decade (Death released Spiritual Healing and on during the 90s, Nile released everything but Amongst in the 2000s). Actually I was tempted to put Death for the 80s too but figured that'd be a little lame. :P
60's - The Beatles (can't think of anyone else)
70's - The Clash, Joy Division
80's - Don't really listen to much 80's stuff. So Motley Crue I guess
90's - Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, AFI
00's (Where the real fun is) Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, Brand New, The Killers, 30 Seconds TO Mars
The 50's:Buddy Holly,Elvis.
The 60's:The Beatles.
The 70's:AC/DC,Led Zeppelin,The Doors
The 80's:AC/DC,Iron Maiden,Ozzy Osbourne.
The 90's:Sorry to say,but in my opinion rock'n'roll died in the early 90's.The very odd album is worth listening to since grunge{Nircrapa,Soundgardump,etc....}
ALL THE CLASSICS ARE GONE......Few still survived.......Metallica got my vote to in the 80's.
