Well I do not have horrible acne, I just get the occasional pimple on my face, annoying pimples on my neck, and acne on my back which doesnt look too attractive. I use proactive lotion and put it on my acne areas after i shower, but i still get pimples.

So what do you use for acne treatment, and what works the best in your experience?

Squeeze them. Seriously nothing is more annoying than talking to someone with a huge spot - you end up talking to the spot instead :? Get a couple of cotton buds and squeeze them with those. It hurts less.

My doctor have me this benzyl peroxide stuff. I don't like it. It's a gel that you apply before bed and in the morning, doesn't work to well.. I thought about getting accutane, but I'd rather look ugly than have some of those side effects.

lol, ya. But you need a subscription. You can use it for "other purposes", so they also check to see if you have bad enough acne.

That would only cause it to spread and possibly scar, though. It's fine if you got a few zits, but I would not recommend popping giant pimples.

My best advice is to go see your doctor and see if he has any good perscriptions for resolving acne.

Yes... squeezing them can leave scarring and pockmarks... don't squeeze them.

If you can prevent them from spreading via disenfectant and stuff it's not a huge deal, unless your prone to scarring, but I've never gotten a scar from squeezing.

If you do it too much, it WILL leave scars or pockmarks. In later life, it can leave you with what is called Acne Rosaea (Dunno if that is the right spelling)

In middle school, I had a lot of acne on my face, but definitely not extreme. I used duac topical gel (its a prescription) and it cleared up fast (imo), and now i have like nothing on my face. The acne never came back. The side effect though is that it can cause peeling of the skin, but I say its worth it.

I've been squeezing my spots for years, even really big ones and my face is fine. The sun will get rid of any marks left by them.

If you still get them, I'd advise you to stop squeezing.. Some of my friends kept picking theirs, and even though the acne went, they were left with some scarring, and with that reddish tint to their faces..

Well I'm just saying out of experience, I used to have a pretty bad case of acne too in my earlier years of high school. I used to always squeeze, and it would just cause a mess and acne just spreaded like wildfire. It was my sophomore year when I finally got sick of picking at my face that I just went to the doctor and told him about my acne problem and if there were any good medicines that could kill off the acne. So he prescribed me and within a few weeks my skin became so much clearer. People in school even took notice and complimented my face saying how good I looked, and how they wanted to know my "secret" for getting rid of it so fast for their own use. Not only was it the fact that I lost a lot of acne, but also the fact my self-esteem rose. I thought I couldn't have made a better choice - I felt good.

Years later, I still get blemishes here and there, but it's nothing as bad as it used to be. I would recommend anyone to just stop squeezing an endless battle and just get a prescription.

Over the counter stuff is crap. Ultimately, you want to get yourself an appointment with a good dermatologist (as they're specialists, this could take a month or even two), and he/she'll take a look at you and prescribe accordingly. Dermatologists around here seem to like to prescribe Sulfacet or Sulfacet compounds.

Wow I'm pretty surprised ProActive didn't work for you. Cause it worked for me and alot of other people I know. You should see a dermatologist.

UV rays from the sun will kill anything growing on/in your skin. Just don't cook yourself too...

Yeah, not very effective is it? At first it might do ok but then you build resistence to it and it loses it's effectiveness. I don't think you should bother trying to get rid of it, even when my face cleared up a bit I didn't gain any of the self-esteem people talk about after clearing up.

Go to acne.org, they've got some good products there that work for me.
