I commiserate with you Sanders supporters. I know your intentions are in the right places and all. However, reality is gonna hit like a freight train in the months ahead.

Yeah, we get it, Bernie isn't corrupt enough to be electable like Hillary, and all the republican candidates are. I am fully aware that he may not win.

Nice ad, I'm going to vote for whoever gets the Democratic nomination either way. Corrupt or not, Hillary will make an excellent president. I wanted Hillary over Obama in 2008.

Again, very good ad from Sanders.

Same. Both Bernie and Hillary would make great presidents if either of them get the nomination. The GOP line up is a joke of epic proportions.

Everything that any candidates from either party wants to accomplish will need the support of Congress. So far no one has presented a strategy for how they will get a Congress does nothing professionally to actually do anything constructive. Until someone figures out that they can all vow to do whatever they want since it's all just pissing into the wind.

Well Hillary would be far better than ANY of the republican candidates, but it would just be more of the same that we got from Obama. Bernie actually wants to introduce real change.

Which is why if Bernie becomes president, he would need our full support to put as much pressure on congress as possible in order to force them to get off there useless asses and do what the people want them to do.

@AlexKidd5000:

I think she will handle things more efficiently than Obama, and despite some Republicans open disdain for her, she is much more capable of reaching across the aisle and getting things done. That's how I see it.

Agreed. I don't necessarily agree with Bernie's message entire, but I acknowledge his authenticity and his genuine desire to do good. However, what his self-centered fan-base is oblivious to is how alien Bernie is to the American polity. He'd make an excellent president in Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, etc, but never in a country like the U.S.

The unfortunate reality is that Bernie is the right man in the wrong country.

I like Putin and Bernie as well for different reasons. Same with Trump because he makes me laugh. Trump definitely has a man crush on Putin.

Exactly. Bernie would have a hard time dealing with US's Military-Industrial-Congressional complex.

Democratic Socialism would be hard to achieve here in the US.

1) Crony capitalism is in the way and they are sucking each other off with Congress.

2) Most of our taxes are spent on national defense, a budget cut we be needed to keep taxes below 50% for socialist policies. Possible but don't see it happening since US has a lot of enemies they've created and it's such a huge empire to maintain.

3) If you can't get through congress, you can't get through your socialist policies without keeping a stable economy with job growth and more capital for businesses. Real capitalism creates jobs and spreads wealth for others to thrive for their dreams. Crony capitalism is government subsidies that destroys capitalism.

Also, wouldn't be surprised if Bernie got assassinated by the wealthy elite.

I'm detecting a "just lay down and die" attitude here. Things CAN change, you just have to make it happen, and if enough pressure is put on congress, even the shit headed repubs will crumble.

Even Sanders knows that he won't be able to just walk into the white house and get everything he wants on a whim. He needs the support of everyone in america.

Not really, bigger government in the area's of health care, and education. And whats wrong with higher taxes on the rich, and lower taxes on the poor (us)? The republicans LOVE big-ass government when it comes to the corporations, and tiny government when it comes to us (the poor).

Do you not understand socialism? You take control of how businesses are regulated and how wealth is redistributed through taxes. Minimum wage, taxes, etc are all socialist policies that control businesses which give power to the government to decide how that money is spent and how a company can conform to new policies. I'm not trying to put a negative connotation to it, but since when has the US government represented its people? President doesn't have all the power.

Here is some examples of of a free market vs government from Bioshock.

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?

When we tax this man and give it to the poor, why is this man not entitled for his hard labor?

"No," says the man in Washington, "it belongs to the poor."

In reality, it belongs to the government.

"No," says the man in the Vatican, "it belongs to God."

Vatican uses this rhetoric to have political gain and control over its people by worshiping a God.

"No," says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to everyone."

Socialism of the hammer and sickle. It really doesn't belong to everyone, in actuality it belongs to the government since they have control of it.

You think Bernie Sanders is a true socialist? lol.

That is assuming people like Donald Trump, or the Koch Brother even worked to earn there wealth, they didn't, most rich people don't, the rich aquire there wealth through inheritance, by cheating, or pure dumb luck, then they enslave the poor to do there work for them paying miserable wages. I work my ass off full time, I deserve to be payed a living wage ($15/h), and if you don't like it, tough shit, simple as that.

Bernie Sanders wants the government to represent the people, giving power to the people to decide what there tax dollars are used for. the government should be afraid of the people, not the other way around. Right now our country is so damaged with corruption, we have no say in anything.

I'll ask what I have asked many times to many other people, why put most of the tax burden on the poor? they can't afford it. Tax the rich businesses who can easily cough up the dough and still be ridiculously wealthy. Makes zero sense to do other wise.

I think the whole "government is bad bad bad, and should be abolished at once!" argument is crap, and only made out of ignorance. Make the government work for and represent the people, giving the people the power to decide how things are run, and you have yourself an image of what America was originally supposed to be.

Except Bernie Sanders isn't a socialist in the context your talking about and supports free market capitalism. And hilarious you use a line from a video game which basically was a giant satire and criticism of Ayn Rand philosophy of a society gone wrong filled with sick and twisted people. Andrew Ryan had more control over anyone in that city than anything coming close to the government in western nations.

He's just an idiot when it comes to everything else. And he's clearly not interested in actually becoming president if he went on a book selling tour during his campaign.

there was no chance of him actually becoming president anyway.... so i guess it's just a donor funded publicity tour for him.

@AlexKidd5000: Hey, worth trying than doing nothing I guess. It would sure open up the discussion if we want our government to rule us this way.

How would the government "rule us" exactly? please explain.

Not to mention that Ayn Rand philosophy more describes the current state of America, and NOT Bernie's vision of a better one.

No, I don't think Bernie Sanders is a true socialist because a true socialist would be someone like Stalin that is both socially and economically socialist/communist. I use socialism because those are socialist policies.

Stop assuming things because now you went out to sound like an idiot.

$15/hr will make a lot of people poorer who rely on government benefits as they see their income go higher and they won't be able to qualify for certain benefits.

Example

Taxing the rich a huge amount won't solve anything. We did that post-WW2 and most of them weren't paying their federal income tax.

Taxing the rich will only lead to a halt in how the business is run, creating fewer jobs and fewer capital to create economic growth. No qualitative easing and leaving money at 0% interest rate is going to fix that.

The government is not run by the president, and we've already been warned of the consequences when government is given too much power over its people.

Why does Bernie Sanders always look like he rolled out of bed without freshening up first every time he's seen in public. Somebody buy that man a comb, and some clothes that fit properly.

@Gaming-Planet: You probably worship at the church of Stefan Molyneux. That guy's a manipulative ego maniac.

The so called anarcho capitalist movement is misguided at best, and has nothing to do with traditional libertarianism. The message of the right libertarians is basically, let's keep how society runs the same but don't let government get in the way of big corporations. It would just lead to corporate tyranny. Eventually people will see we don't need rulers but until that time comes and society operates in a fundamentally different way, goverment at least keeps society from total collapse and combats corporate tyranny.

Anarcho-capitalism is what lead to corporate greed and corruption of the 19th century. That's why there was a huge progressive movement in the late 19th century to get rid of child labor and using immigrants for cheap labor. Theodore Roosevelt was a contributor to those regulations that prevented corporations from having Anarchro-capitalist society. That's not what I am advocating here.

I like secularism, I like limited control for both sides, and at times like these I am for the people the most. I don't mind regulations that limit the power of corporations, but where we're at now, it has become unbalanced. Corporate America buys politicians to create policies that favor the 1% of the 1%, while leaving all other forms of capitalism in the dirt with no competition.

There is no ideal form of capitalism or socialism because we're human beings with self-interest and are bought with incentives. The only point I wanted to get across was that trying to help the people through welfare isn't going to work when the government has a military-industrial complex. Higher taxes for the rich won't fix that, welfare won't fix that, and giving everyone the freedom to do whatever the hell they want won't fix that because of the policies we have already set in place.

51% Americans make less than 30k a year. There are no jobs available for them to make higher wages, so what do you do? Increase the minimum wage? Well, there is a consequence to that as well like I've said above. More welfare? Well, with money being backed by 0% interest rate bonds you can't do a whole lot so you print or borrow more money, and thus you have prices gouge for those necessities like medicare, food, and education. The market is currently artificially stimulated through qualitative easing which will be destined to fail and no monetary policy can fix that. Yes, inflation is at 0.2% or whatever but that's because the Fed can now pay interest on excess reserves from commercial banks, and QE just helps that. It's like a band aid on the economy.

Once the economy slows down its engine, leaving many unemployed, and the Fed runs out of monetary policies to close the wound, then BOOM! Bubble burst and we all say we told you so. Besides, I was advocating for Bernie Sanders before he became a thing. He definitely needs a financial advisor and a reality check to current state of our economy, but I do like his intentions. Also, I've heard of Stefan Molyneux and I don't agree with his anarchy views, I believe he still has a lot to learn about sexuality and the philosophy of mankind.

@AlexKidd5000 you're free to hop in as well if you agree or disagree or whatever.

I'm detecting a "just lay down and die" attitude here. Things CAN change, you just have to make it happen, and if enough pressure is put on congress, even the shit headed repubs will crumble.

This isn't about capitulation; this is about cause and effect. The adverse American status quo is the result of decades of bad politics, bad economics, and a bad societal arrangement. It's the culmination of a protracted process that reflects on politics and economics but has it's roots in society and its ethics. That is to say, the citizenry's prolonged intransigence and irreverence precipitated such a status quo.

The cycle of cause and effect in the U.S is at a stage where it must come full circle. Just like you don't get to repeatedly commit a crime and when apprehended screams "I repent", you don't get to escape the penalty of your legacy. If you think the leviathan Republicans and elites hatched through decades of careful planning and potent ingenuity is going to crumble by the might of nascent populism, think again my friend.

The only thing to do, is to slowly chip away at them. I won't lie, we are partly to blame for the current state of the country.

Currently Bernie appears to be the only candidate I want in office. Unfortunately, I don't think it's gonna happen. America's also become too much of a pitfall with lack of common sense and possibly increasing ignorance. I think there are at least a few countries here and there in the world, that have citizens and leaders running them with more common sense than America does, that's for sure.

And I imagine the worst case scenario will be Trump somehow winning.
