their later stuff is pretty great. the earlier stuff is so so. i like the white album the best. seems like they were doing a lot of drugs around that time. i dont think id categorize the beatles as pop music, at least after they stopped playing live and dropped the boy band stuff.

I've never been able to stomach the beatles, if only because whenever I hear their stuff, I'm reminded of the countless hours of music class learning "Yellow Submarine"(and only Yellow Submarine from Grade 4 until grade 8 ).
What a terrible song. Scarred me for life. Some of their stuff seems decent, like "In My Life", and there's probably 2 or 3 other songs floating about that don't give me severe mind-pains, but that's about it.

I enjoy a few of their songs. Penny Lane is one of my favorites just because it's so restful . . . I would almost say delightful.

Huge fan. Too many good songs, though the flow of Abbey Road is irresistible. Also, I liked George's solo career, and Wings from Paul had a few good songs.

The White Album is my favorite album. Actually it's my "if you were stranded on a deserted island and could on have 1 album" album :)

I love all their music though .. even the "pre Rubber Soul" British Invasion stuff.

Mostly because of the drug references. Sometimes the Beatles make me nauseous.

LOVE is actually my favourite album by them, pepper being a close 2nd. it's just amazing that 30 odd years after they split up their music is still better than anything else out there.

favourite song is either a day in the life or walrus. both're just so amazingly crazy it makes my brain hurt

Lennon was the best Beatle, hands down. McCartney makes some good songs, but I'm not exactly a fan of anything of his after the Beatles. Harrison could write good pop songs, but he wasn't as good as he was in the Beatles, either. I liked "My Sweet Lord", but it gets boring after a while. Ringo Starr was probably the most rock-oriented solo act of all of the Beatles, but I'm not particularly a fan... But Lennon was truly the most original and sincerest songwriter of the group.

The Chiffons. It was because the song sounded similar or something.

oh that was it. the case stood for the proposition that you can "intentionally" violate copyright even if you have never heard/seen the material you allegedly copied. i believe the court noted the evidence was clear that harrison hadnt heard that song, but because of market impact and the popularity of the original, the infringement was imputed to him. my professor brought the tape of both songs in for us. everyone said they didnt hear similarities, but they sounded just the same to me.

They kinda... created modern music.

Meaning? They did build off the music of the day to create theirs. Music was neverl developed in a vacuum. If they hadn't been a major pop act....would they have actually been that "innovative". Something to think about.
