I'm sad today. No more unlimited data for 10$. No more HSPA+, without the crappy AT&T service. As a T-mobile customer, I will not renew with AT&T come next year.

Guess they couldn't handle those motercycle adds? AT&T seems like the type that will turn evil the moment they get their monopoly set up.

Looks like their main reason for doing it is so they can have better service. T-mobile supposedly will allow them to have better technology at their disposal.

It's a good thing. T-mobile had no real plans for LTE, this makes AT&Ts path easier and faster. T-mobiles service was horrible, don't try to pretend it wasn't. Thats why it was cheap-mobile, because it sucked.

This topic was already made, twice. In fact, I think it's still relativly near the top of the forums.

Anywho. I don't care. As long I can call people.

Maybe Apple should have just purchased T-Mobile. They've still got more money than they know what to do with. No I know, they're going to purchase AT&T after this merger is all said and done. Save themselves some trouble.

Ha, I see what you did there, but Apple has enough money to buy Sony, Electronic Arts, and have enough left over for Adobe. I think they could afford some fancy towers. Though, that would be a little beyond creepy to see white towers with grey apples all over the country. That would truly be turning America into the Cult of Steve.

Alltel was merged with Verizon, not AT&T.

How would it work if I didn't renew it and pay month to month? Would I still be able to have unlimited data?

Maybe I phrased my statement poorly but I am clearly an AT&T customer now due to them buying a large number of Alltel subscribers, still waiting on my new phone from them as well :P

I'd have went with AT&T... there's just something I don't like about them. They remind me of Microsoft and that's not a good thing. It seems like they want to nickel and dime charge you to death...

often times yes, i worked at radio shack some time back and we would run into old plans like that every now and then, the unlimited data was not so abnormal though it is not offered any more. just keep paying your bill and looking to see if anything changes, if anything changes call up at&T and tell them you signed your contract with XYZ conditions and the conditions were never renagociated. 99-100 they will just say our mistake and keep your plan as it was, if your plan expires you will lose your granfathered plan, so pay your bills ontime.

I can't understand how or why we allow two companies to have a stranglehold on some of our most critical infrastructure.

When your contract runs otu you just go month to month, there is no change with your plan your just not bound by contract to stay. It'll take about a year for AT&t and cheap-mobile to actually combined tho, who knows what will happenw ith the old t-mobile plans. If its like the merger with att and cingular you'll be able to keep them until they kill those towers.. which is looks like will happen in 2 to 3 years.

You have unlimited data for $10? How did you accomplish that? I know you can get data for $10 but it's only a certain amount of GB I thought?

Web2Go Unlimited, you can fool T-Mobile into thinking you have an old phone and want to get that plan, then they activate it for you

Does anybody here use Virgin Mobile? Apparently it uses Sprints network and you can get unlimited everything except 300 minutes of talk for $25 a month. That seems like a really good deal if you don't call people too often.

The problem with Virgin Mobile is they have zero roaming. Unless you are on the Sprint Network, you get zero coverage. Sprint's coverage isn't great in terms of covering the nation.

I've heard they're having a marriage ceremony, but that they'll be no reception afterwards.

my advice would be for you to look over your contract, if it does not say that they can change the rates on your bills then id see if you could increase the length of your contract because it sounds like you like it enough to be upset about this.

I'm not surprised. T-Mobile had crappy coverage. I also think most of their business was in those prepaid burners that poor people and drug dealers buy. I can't believe there's much money in that. They hyped their smartphones like crazy, but I don't think they were that popular. Anyone with the money to get a smartphone was going to go with AT&T or Verizon. I don't know anyone IRL who was on T-Mobile, and every time I walked by one of their stores it was empty.

Regulation is in order. I hope this doesn't go through. I can't stand AT&T (past experience). I'm actually with a great company, T-mobile, to stay away from AT&T.
