I definitely liked Jett's style more, but that's just me. I miss rock chicks.

Rock-and-roll versus bubblegum/sex-pop?

What are we comparing, their ability to sing? Vocal range? Their song-writing? This comparison doesn't make sense.

Ariana Grande.

Both are the same genre. Ariana just has better producers.

Jett. More variation in songs, and no auto tune.

That's the equivalent of comparing music to a plastic toy you get out of a quarter vending machine.

@jaydan:

Arianas tracks are mostly synthetic, to start. The producers arent trying to pass off the music as something its not.

The other band arguably has more post processing.

A group acting as a post punk band from an era long gone which does not exist anymore? Strange .

Joan Jett, she's cool as ****, and a fellow Generation Joneser like myself, we were the original punk (Sex Pistols, Clash, Wire, The Ramones), rap (Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five) , and videogame (Pong, Space Invaders, Pac Man, Asteroids, Defender) generation. I was lucky to see her in concert back in 1981 or 1982 while I was stationed in England, great show.

That Joan Jett and the Blackhearts song is so ubiquitous that I can't stand it.

Gotta go with Joan as I don’t know who the other one is.

@carljohnsoncj:

I love Joan Jett's talent but I can only name like, 1 or 2 good songs by her. Ariana Grande has more memorable songs.

Guess I'd go with Jett. No auto tune.

If we're speaking strictly on vocal range, Ariana. And I'm a classic rock guy. Joan Jett, Heart, Pat Benatar, Vixen.... all unreal. Though I'd be curious to see Ariana sing a classic rock song.

@sonic_spark: That's why I said Ariana is the better vocalist. She has a wider vocal range, and there is more melissa to her voice. But at the same time, she has some serious enunciation issues, as she sounds like gibberish when she hits those high notes or uses a lot of melisma.
