Poll Are you religious? (38 votes)

Yes,Heaven exists! 8%
Yes, Heaven and Hell exist. 21%
No. Earth is the last stop. 53%
I have other theories.....?? 18%

Let’s face facts, nobody has all the real answers on this earth. You have to pass on to have a jift on to what is afterlife? Does God exist? I believe so,and I believe that there is a Hell, because the Lord said that there’s one? My thoughts are Earth is what we make of it and must treat others with peace and love? Man is destroying man,not God. Just a few thoughts and beliefs I have about religion, I have a much more complex view too all things afterlife and I’m sure most do? My question is are you religious,do you believe in Jesus Christ? Or do you think we’re just bacteria formed by accident/fate? No beliefs at all? What’s your thoughts on the churches? Myself I think church is for people who’ve felt guilty about things said or done and feel a sense of relief after confession.

I know most have a vast complex comprehension of all things that point to when we’re passed on,but please give me some insight to what people think? Thanks.

No I'm not religious I use to believe in God when I was a kid then I grew up and lost my innocence. For me there's to much bad shit in the world for me to believe in a God exists .As for when we die who knows where we go the simulation theory is fascinating but I don't completely buy it but it's great for nerds that love scifi shit. I hope there is a after life and it is better then real life and everyone can be happy but I have my doubts. I just hope reincarnation is not real I really don't want to live again this shit is exhausting.

No. I grew up Catholic but I would believe/pray for the wrong reasons. I would do so, so I wouldn't go to hell. If God is real then s/he shouldn't care if I pray or believe in them. Just try and be a good person. That's my view anyway. I'm not a hardcore atheist, I'm agnostic. There could certainly be a god, I just don't know. I also don't care what people believe in, my opinions on people are based on their actions.

I was when I was younger, Catholic. Not really anymore though. Bible has too much of a human's point of view, and too much contradictory stuff for me to take it as... um... Gospel.

There might be a spiritual component to the universe, but I don't really buy into the Christian model anymore.

Nope. Apathetic Agnostic.

Our beliefs can be summarised as simply; "don't know, don't care."

If you study the origins of the Abraham religions you realize they are descended from a previous Canaanite pantheon. Yahweh/El in particular has a rather convoluted history.

So when you've got the rough draft still laying around its hard to believe the final product when various persons and entities have very obviously been written and re-written. Asherah was El's consort, then she was Yahweh's, then Yahweh becomes El, kinda, but they're still separate (as seen in Duet 32:9 where Yahweh receives his inheritance from El).

Yeah, no. So many holes, so many bits of history recorded that conflict with what is written therein, and an obvious prologue that directly contradicts the whole 'One God' dialogue.

Don't buy it, smells like a scam.

The idea of an eternal afterlife terrifies me. I was watching Soul (Pixar movie) the other day and while I enjoyed it, it was also sort of scary to me. Same with WoW: Shadowlands haha. I'd rather there be nothing at all than anything forever.

So that is why I don't believe, because that seems to be the main point of "belief"; to get into some sort of afterlife.

Same.

I am comfortable not knowing.

Sometimes I wonder if I'd be better off with faith of some kind, some sort of "big picture" to keep me motivated, but I don't know there are plenty of tangible and intangible things to keep you going.

God no. Organised religion is the worst thing to happen to the world. A bunch of self serving liars claiming to know the truth to exploit money and power.

I have no problem with a personal faith or belief you can believe in what you want to believe in. Just don't come knocking on my door trying to tell me what I should believe.

No, never have been. I was born in socialist country and in a multi ethnic family where neither of my parents cared about religion or any religious tradition. Later on as I was growing up religion was used as a tool by the right wing to fish their voters, which naturally put me off. Bill Maher is my religion now hehe.

raised catholic but non-religious at this point.

not out of hating life or anything like that. life is awesome and the universe is fucking bonkers. i just can't jive with the idea that anyone in authority ( parent/teacher ) whos ever told you about an almighty lord probably got that idea from an authority in their life. that person got the idea from another authority in their life and you get this regression all the way back who knows how far to a bunch of people with no idea what the hell is going on in the natural world around them and a desire to bring understanding to it and so these entities start popping into existence.

that and i like to sleep on sundays, don't make me sit in a church.

Yes, I consider myself a Christian. I believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead on the 3rd day.

For believing in the invisible man you would be put in a mental institution just saying. 2000 years people didn’t know crap and believed in anything and most likely were eating mushrooms and went on some crazy trips and thats how religion was born. You can’t prove that iam wrong and you can’t prove that i am right religious people think. Oh yeah 2000 years ago people earth was flat so they must be right about that too

I’d like to think of myself as agnostic but the more I think about it, I’m probably an atheist even though I don’t label it as anything. I’m not particularly vocal about it though and find no need to be unless it’s asked. I have my reasons but there’s too many to list.

I used to believe in god as a child/teen and would attend the occasional church service with my grandparents, but that’s about it. Nothing like that was ever forced onto me growing up, which is good.

Eh sorta but I'm not sure right now, I just had an existential crisis 5 hours ago. I have some other theories that I've gathered from watching videos and reading some stuff, but they're complicated and I haven't come to a conclusion yet

I’m an atheist, I don’t believe there is anything after death. The fact some people limit their lives and pleasures thinking they will be rewarded with those very things they spent a lifetime avoiding repulses me. Do what you want and live a fulfilling life as long as you are not hurting someone else’s life. Easy as that.

Religious people seem pretty repulsed by non-religious people (and people of other religions), maybe ask them?

Let's put it this way: religion has a way of influencing governance in ways it shouldn't. Sometimes subtle, sometimes outright ugly, the point is that people don't keep their divine beliefs to themselves: they wish to apply that broad brush to all of society.

I don't care what people believe behind closed doors, just don't come out of those doors shouting down everyone around you and then expecting the government to enforce your views.

@br0kenrabbit: Not all do that, but you are correct that religion has a way of influencing government in ways it shouldn’t. Religion and government should be separate, god gave you free will and no man has a right to take that away.

Religion is about your personal connection with your god; when it goes beyond that religion becomes dangerous and needs to be put in check.
