Are you looking forward to the Mass Effect movie?

I was reading some comments about the film at the bioware forums and some people there seemed rather displeased about the fact that the main protagonist will end up being a male most likely, i don't know what to think, probably mass effect has a better chance of getting a good movie adaptation than Metal Gear Solid itself for instance, whats your take?

It'll flop, but I'd still see it.

Well seeing as the protagonist must be one or the other, I can see how they would choose one of them. :lol:

I think everything depends on who directs it more than anything. After a movie like Skyline it's pretty obvious that great effects don't make up for crap writing.

Not at all, especially since it's about Shepard. Unless they change their plans and announce it's going to be about someone or something else, like the First Contact War, I'm not going to be too thrilled about it.

From what I understand, the biggest selling point of the Mass Effect games is the choice in creating your own story and shaping your character through the decisions you make along the way. So I don't really see the point in making a movie which removes that crucial feature.

I'm not saying that the universe doesn't have potential to make a good movie (though I haven't played the games yet), I'm just saying that creating a movie based directly off the plot of the games doesn't make much sense to me.

for a Mass Effect movie, It'd be preferable if they forgot about the whole Commander Shepard thing, and based the storyline on Discovering the Prothean artifact on Mars. They should create a completely new story but just keep it in the Mass Effect universe.

FUN FACT: A special edition of MGS3 came with a disc containing a movie version of the game.

Not really, the devs say it, but you can't say anything you want or do anything you want. I have a fem shep because the voice actress is way better, the male is so plain, the female adds something called emotion. And admit it, you don't make the choices you would make, you make the choices that are the best choices for you. Its impossible to play the game and decide what you want to say without the options and expect what you want to say to be there even half the time. Great game, but it is by no means a simulator for you as a future space hero.

And the movie has potential to be good, but it won't.

It would most likely suck but might still be worth checking out.

If the writing is well done, the characters have meaning and emotion, and the budget is high in order to truly create the alien races then I'd be in. The thing with Mass Effect is that alot of interaction is done constantly with the other races, so they have to look really good. You can't get away like with some space movies where you only show the aliens for a few frames and often not the even whole thing.

I'm hoping they base it on the First Contact War.

Fingers crossed that the DLC this summer makes ME3 ending more tolerable...chessmaster1989

I hope so. I refuse to play the game again until change it.
