Are you a pushover, or do you usually stand up for yourself?

I always stand up for what i believe in and have lost friends doing so and i usually become more defensive if i detect the other person getting annoyed as that amuses me muchly
no
I do tend to go with the flow, though, and sadly people misinterpret that as being a pushover. My mom does that for a while, and she is always caught a bit off guard when I stand up for myself lol.
I also speak frankly and, at times, bluntly so its a bit of a contradiction...a guy who is down for whatever yet speaks his mind honestly when something aint right
When it comes to things like this, people typically expect less of me than they receive. Even though my persona online obviously makes you visualize some hulking intelligent beast, in reality I'm not one would define as intimidating. However, there has been many times that I have stood up for something that surprised the people around me. Examples, I've yelled at people for insulting women, tried to separate potential fights, etc. Anytime I've done things like this I get a rather unified response of, "I didn't know you had it in you."mindstorm

I'll let people think I'm a pushover

lol, you sound dangerous. :P
You are an astute observer sir...
So, in other words, on the surface, you a very nice person, but deep deep down inside, you have that ticking time bomb that NO ONE wants to mess with.
Did I get that right?
I used to be, but now I have this crazy deep voice and piercing glare that solves all my problems :D Yay puberty!

When people see me get upset it tends to be very surprising seeing as I am always trying to have a good time.
works too, even though I never got that perk when I played. I prefer the Mysterious Stranger. :P[QUOTE="mindstorm"]When it comes to things like this, people typically expect less of me than they receive. I'll let you figure that one out....
haha, you don't want to say.
Yes and No.
I may let people say things or do things and get away with it, but its probably just because its not worth the trouble of standing up and fighting about something foolish.
but if its something with meaning, or say something was taken too far, you bet your *** i'm going to stand my ground and make my point, purpose, and opinion known.
Edit: I see people talking about women, I thought about it but forgot to mention.
I am the type, that if I love someone, I would do anything and everything for that person regardless of the cost to myself. Its not so much that i'm a pushover in this case, because I wouldnt fall so irrevokabley in love with someone who was cruel and unfair, but its more just I aim to please, and I would just want that person to be happy.

What it reminds me of is in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is pretty much a pretty boy who talks poetry and looks at flowers and gets his heart broken all the time, hopeless romantic type, at first glance seemingly whimpy, but halfway through the story when his best friend Mercutio is killed in a street fight, he turns into a complete nut and strikes down the guy who did it.
That is, if I got that right.
In other words, cute kind sweet bunny on the outside, vicious ruthless devil on the inside.
hey can you let me have $20?? :PMost of the time, yes. People don't take advantage of me though.

I guess I am, but only because I don't like starting fights/arguments. I do stand my ground if I feel very strongly about something though.
Far more often the not i am a pushover.
the only topic that will light a fire in me, is the MidEast Peace process. the minute i hear "it's Muslim land" or "Jews were their first so it's theirs to do with it" (take a note at this Post ). and I'm Saudi-American (dual nationalities), and Muslim. and i don't advocate violence, but i do come down hard on the Israeli's (don't wanna get into it, this is not the topic for it) more often then i do on the Palestinians.
---
My poltiical philosphy is Rule Utilitarianism. Which usually dictates why i'm against Blackwater and *AHEM* other legal Mercenaries, for LEGAL gay rights, near or full universal healthcare coverage OPTION.
However like i said i am Muslim as well and there are times where there is a line i cannot cross.
I have friends on campus who greatly differ from my own politics and views. one of them kept using the B word while watching an episode of House while the female actresses were emotionally distressed. mind you this is one of my ubber-niche-gaming-geek-with-really really poor social skills.
I asked him after probably the 15th time to stop referring to the women as the B word.
he said "well they are acting like B's, when women get all emotional then they're stupid"
i responded "that's part of the territory with women, plus it's part of the human condition anyways"
"well it's the worst aspect of being human" (note, i take this as a bad sign for his view and chalk it up to his black and white world of logic and geekdom)
i responded "do you call your mother that?"
"yes, if she's being all emotional and wrong about a situation"
"do you love your mother?"
"yes, but i seperate the mother and the person"
"from where i come from you can't do that, it is your mother, you can disagree with her all you like, but you never insult your own mother"
he goes on explaining his case, and i neglect to respond. he finally says "come on man, stand up for yourself explain to me why you shouldn't differentiate the mom from the person"
I responded quite coldly and straight in his eyes "because your not honoring your own mother, there is nothing to discues, you've made your point very clear" (there is no compromise, there is no middle ground for me here, the conversation is over.)
needless to say i shook something in him (he is apparently a conservative Christian as well), and he left the room shortly afterword.
--------------------------
But i can take a whole lot of crap though. my school is big conservative Republican school. i typically fall more in line with Democratic party (in terms of their philosphy and political positions) - not totally mind you, but mostly. So i got to hear the love songs for Bush Jr. (and i did NOT like this administration), and now i get to hear the drivel cries of "oh noes socialism!" about Obama (even though i strongly support him).
but i can take a whole lot of garbage before even i lose my temper. but like i said before, topics related to the MidEast - i will stand up and voice my position. I do the same thing when i'm Saudi, i'll stand up and defend the US.
it comes with the territory of being a halfsy. i got beat up and insulted in Saudi for being American (as a kid), and i got beat up and insulted for being Saudi (happened in Texas, shortly after 9/11 - got other stories but i won't share them here).
- i wonder if anyone is gonna read any of this.....hmmm...
