Are animes that have reached over 150 episodes ever worth to watch?

The way I see it, the more episodes they keep making for an anime, the higher your expectations will reach for its ending then. And I doubt that they can ever live up to it. And you'll be asking yourself, "Was it worth to spend over 100 hours on this?"

I used to watch Naruto and One Piece from day 1 but stopped once they went overboard with the plots

There's not many animes that go over 150 episodes other than Bleach, Naruto and One Piece and Dragonball.

I agree Naruto completely failed on plot but I don't understand why you think One Piece did. Can you please explain? I mean the plot of one piece is relatively grounded in logic compared to other series.

Anyways, anime series with over 150 episodes usually suffer a decline in quality due to the story running out of plot points to explore. This is why bleach, naruto and dragonball started failing in plot miserably. Thankfully though, the writer behind one piece is the best in the industry so it doesn't suffer the stigma that other long series do.

No. The longest anime I liked was Monster at 74 episodes. Anything over a hundered tends to be awful...

Worth it? That's a strange question. I don't really expect anything brilliant while watching Bleach, but it's a fun show and it kills 20 minutes for me every week.

Sure, shows that are 100+ episodes long rarely measure up to some of to the best 26-ep animes (there are some exceptions), it's a matter of budget and other factors I think >.> But imo, Bleach is still a lot more entertaining than at least 95% of the short animes out there.

Yeah, one of the many reasons why that anime is one of the most horrendously awful shows of all time >_>

After Shishio, it's filler. The following arc wasn't in the manga.

Yes some are. But I actually stopped watching naruto because of the mass amount of fillers, if you took only story based eps and left out the fillers the numbers aren't that enormous. What I do is when fillers start I ignore them till they end. It keeps the show a little more fresh.

Yea, anything after Shishio isn't worth watching. Typically I think anime should stay between 20-30 solid episodes. Look at some of the best like Mushi-Shi, Samurai Champloo, and Cowboy Bebop. Each episode in those series are great and have a lot of heart to them. Once you get into like 100 episode the show begins to show its wear and tear.

That depends solely on the writing. Both have their issues. With short animes the plot and character development gets rushed and is not given enough time to develop while with longer series the plot has exhausted many of their plot points ad character development comes to a halt.

So again it all depends on the writer.

Usually not, especially if they start with Dragon and end in Ball Z.

Hey, if in 15 hours of show footage you can bring plot and character development to fruition, you're doing something wrong.

IDK I've never watched an anime that I was 150 episodes behind in. I wouldn't think it would matter. You should just watch it until it's no longer entertaining.

For example I liked dragon ball, but once it got into the cell saga the episodes were just so drawn out that I was bored of it so I stopped watching. I've heard somebody edited DBZ, and GT so all the BS was cut out, and I'm very interested in watching that.

I don't really wonder so much if all those eps. are worth it. If I enjoy the anime then I just love my weekly fix and having always somethign to watch provided by these long animes, if I don't then just stop.

Not all short series can pull this off just like how most long series can't pull off a consistent plot and character development for 411 episodes/553 chapters.

Sure. Like Naruto and Bleach there is a main storyline, but many story arcs give the series more depth while moving the main plot forward. Can go overboard like Naruto did, but naruto has a lot more than 150 episodes.

Animes with that many episodes are usually not as good as others. You should branch out, watch shorter ones.

Death Note, Cowboy Bepop, Ghost in the Shell Standalone Complex, Mushi-shi, and more are a lot shorter, but have quality.

Some shows like Inyuyasha, over do it. Sometimes it is because they try to keep with the manga. But when that is still going strong like naruto youur bound to get fillers.

Rurouni Kenshin is known in the US as Samurai X.

Maybe it's called Samurai X in Japan, but I've always seen the anime and manga called "Rurouni Kenshin", and the OVA series "Samurai X".

Which reminds me, I still haven't watched all of the OVAs... need to do that.

Dragon Ball Z is pretty much a dairy farm.

They try to milk it for all it's worth.
