The day iTunes works with other players is the day satan gets a cold. There is no way Apple is going to bend to that. I think Apple is only going in favor of this publicly, is because it won't happen anytime soon in reality. They're appearing consumer-friendly, but I don't buy it. I can't see them gaining anything from allowing compatibility with iTunes to other players. Sure, they'd have more people using iTunes, but they'd probably lose iPod sales (not like they can't afford it). iTunes was a huge reason for me to buy an iPod.
