The shark and eagle on the inner biceps is a really good idea. The heart and everything else, not so much.

I know people who have them and they say it hurts like hell for a little while. And they have a higher tolerance for pain, so I dont plan I getting a tatoo

Yep - this has everything to do with the quality of the tattoo, the skill of the artist and the method used to do the tattooing. There is a good reason why a lot of musicians I have known etc tend to spend a lot of money on their tattoos and require multiple visits, and they also tend to seek out a well known or otherwise exceptional artist, sometimes having to wait a few months for an appointment. If you are going to get a tattoo, it's worth the extra effort to avoid getting a bad one. I have one but so far have decided to stop there. It got it on the top part of my arm close to my shoulder and I honestly didn't think it hurt much at all (but where you get it will affect that). I thought it was rather fun.

It took me 6 years from when I said I wanted a tattoo to figure out what I wanted. Do they hurt, yes but it also depends on where you get it. I have one on my deltoid and it goes down to parts of my triceps and biceps(the bicep part hurt alot). and it hurt for about the first few minutes but then you go numb. The numb pain kinda feels good after awhile they say its adrenaline. then when they hit the sensitive spots it hurt alot but not as bad as if they started on those spots.

I have one, on my side right below my ribs and kinda on them. It's pretty big and a lot of it is solid black. I do not recommend your side considering it hurts like hell.

Not yet, but I want one. I might get one when I visit my friend but I don't know it. If I get one it'll probably be a spontaneous thing. I'm going to get an ankle bracelet tattoo.

That tattoo would hurt because it has a lot of work on the clavicle. That bit hurts, the skin is not so deep there.

I have two and no, it doesn't hurt. It just feels like someone is drawing on you with a pen.

because acknowledgment of pain makes me a wuss?? sorry Mr Tough guy..., considering i said the pain is very manageable doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. it certainly doesnt feel like being drawn on by a pen.

This. It didn't hurt much at all though shoulders are a pretty painless place to get them. I wanted a large one on my hip but thought I'd start off with a small one on my shoulder. When I went in to get this done I chatted to the receptionist who had loads of tattoos and she said she got an outline done on her hip and cried so that's put me off :P

Start off small and see how you get on.

I have two. One on my upper left arm near my shoulder and one on my left bicep. It's a little nervous the first time, but the pain is not as bad as you think (at least in the spots I got mine). My biceps tattoo goes into the inner arm a little and that part kind of hurt, but it's very tolerable. I plan on getting one on my inner arm on my right arm. My tattooist is expensive though so I have to save some cash. Pay the extra cash for a good tattooist. Mine was like $200 bucks each.

BTW, someone mentioned it looks terrible when your older, that's crappy tattooist. And also you can get touch ups on them. My tattooist does touch ups for tattoos he did free of charge.

I have none atm, but I'd like to get around three: one on my foot, one on the side of my hip and one near my chest-bosom region. I'm not exactly sure what to get yet, but I have several ideas in mind. I'd like to get at least one done this summer.

The cons of getting one is that you are scarred for life... Thats pretty much it. I have one tattoo.

i don't, but i've considered learing it although i'm a little afraid of the possibility of getting some kind of an infecion via the needle.

Don't worry about that, as long as it's a professional and everything is sterile than you will be fine. To stay on topic, it all depends where really. Getting it on your arm will hurt a lot less than getting it on your ribs. To anyone who says it doesn't hurt is just saying that, or maybe they got it in an easy spot. Let them get a huge tat on there ribs and they won't be saying it didn't hurt, cause it freaking kills.

I've got four and counting. As far as whether or not they hurt, it depends on where you get them. Mine are on (in order) my left shoulder blade, right shoulder blade, left calf, and right calf. Here's my most recent (had it for almost 8 years): (date on the image is wrong, btw)
