Anyone ever get a notice from their ISP about copyright infrigement?

Got one of these in my email yesterday. My idiot brother likes to use torrents a lot and the notice seemed like a warning, it wasn't a subpoena but I know it was legit because it even had a sort of timestap of what was download.

I'd like to know if anyone else out there has ever received a similar notice, I think this just happened to spook people which seemed to work on my brother lol but its my name on the account. Any feedback will be appreciated, thanks.

I know people who have and after a while if you keep doing it, you will be in trouble.

....yeah wall of text. I am actually not freaking out about because it wasn't me who downloaded this. It has my brother freaked out though since he downloads a lot of stuff. He says he's going to stop using torrents for downloads....I don't think he's learned his lesson.

Some ISP's troll certain IP addresses for copyright material. They do this literary out of millions of IP address and it's incredibly rare for you to get one, even more so to get two. If you're really worried, just hide your IP and use private trackers/closed torrent communities.

Because he's an idiot. I told him the same thing. He should just get an account on crunchyroll. He likes to take his laptop everywhere though and if he downloads the episode he can watch it whenever he wants. After this incident though I think he's going to stay away from torrents.

I got one, no big deal, just delete that torrent, it is really random, you can do a million torrents... I got one about twisted metal 2 pc.. Its like, Sony did not even care about twisted metal 2 on the pc.. It does not even work.

If you're going to use torrents, you need to know how NOT to get caught lol.

Yeah, its a warning. I personnaly just ignore them and find some other source to download what i want. The ISP is more interested in keeping you as a customer than sending a subpoena after you. Repeated warnings within a short period of time (say 2 or 3 months) may results in temporary bans or cancelling your service.

I wouldn't worry too much about it whether it was you or your brother.

torrents are getting tracked down like crazy nowadays, unless you want to go to jail, i suggest giving up torrenting for good

I never have, nor do I know anyone who has. I rarely download copyrighted material now so it's not an issue for me.
