Here's the Link

First time i saw Carolyn when she was reviewing a game i thought "Did Gamespot hire a new transsexual game reviewer?" Then i thought "Gamespot just hired a transsexual game reviewer...AWESOME!"

Props to Gamespot for not being prejutice close minded like some of the commenters on her reviews.

Its a sad state of affairs when i actually feel compelled to compliment Gamespot for treating a human being like a human being.

Carolyn...keep up the good work :)

The fact is the issue shouldn't even exist. It shouldn't even have to be addressed haha. Props to Carolyn for having guts though and being strong.

Yeah we had a topic on this before. She's a good reviewer and that's what counts. Who gives a crap about her personal life.

i didnt actually notice it at all. I guess i concentrated on what is important which is her ability to review the game.

I dont see why anyone should comment about her personal life.

1+ internets for kotaku, gamespot and Carolyn

Being a transgender is definitely not an idea I'm fond of but Gamespot did a good job at hiring him/her. She does some pretty good reviews.

It is great that GS hired her and all but... I never saw why it was such a big deal in the first place. She is a human being as well as me, you, and everyone else on this site. Well still... I liked her outfit during her L.A. Noire review. :P

I really don't see what the big deal is.

And I think they should realize that she's a person, not an 'it' or a thing

Good on GS but to say this shouldn't even be noticed like it's nothing is crazy. It's a man, dressed and speaking like a woman. That's weird any way you slice it. The comments were over the line though. She/he will also make a LOT of people unconfortable which makes it an interesting business move, but again, good on GS for not worrying about that.

I must be slicing it in a completely different way than you then :P I really don't find it that weird.

I have met many men with questionable sense of fashion and a weird voice. And they weren't even crossdressers...

If i payed more attention to the reviewers name, it would have been more obvious. But i guess im just to busy concentrating on the actual game itself :P

I honestly don't even know why people care. I react to her the same way I react to someone who's gay with complete indifference. It has no impact on anything that would affect me or anyone else in any way. People worry about things people do that are "weird" far too much.

This again. Anywho, glad she's taken it in stride. She's a good reviewer, that's al that really matters. And yeah, some of the comments are rather mean-spirited, both on Kotaku, and on the prior topic we had here.

Sometimes I hate the anonymity of the internet. Just because you're behind the veil of a monitor doesn't mean it's okay to say that kind of stuff. It's only human to dislike some things and some people, maybe even hate them, but jeez if they're not harming you just keep it to yourself. I'm glad most people seem to be accepting her, but in this day and age, why should anything besides her review matter in this situation?

The thing about the anonymity of the internet is that it doesn't make someone a dick. It just makes them unafraid to show that they're a dick. They'd be a dick outside of the internet; they'd just not make it public knowledge.

well, the results of posting such an article in Kotaku would be obvious, and that they are making fun of him. Again, I dont know why so many are bringing so much attention to this man. Everyone knew she was a he but put it to the side and only cared for reviews. Now, we gonna hear about this for the next 2-3months or so before it gets buried again.

The whole community coming together in the comments to battle the hatred and ignorance shown in the comments was incredibly encouraging. For some nobody who has never contributed a single thing to the community to come out from under a bridge and try to run off someone who has been contributing in a positive manner for many years is amazing, and I'm pretty shocked that he hasn't been banned from the site, quite frankly.

I'm truly sorry if this comes off as douchey, but oh well. I have no problem with trans people, I just find they're faked female accents extremely grating, and especially distracting when I'm trying to focus on something like a video review. God that probablysounds terrible, but I had to say it.

It takes time for people to get used to this kind of things. That's why the most public these people get the better since it will become a non issue faster and we can move on to more important things. Kudos to GS.

Seriously some of those comments... Well goes to show that alot of people on the net really are uncomfortabale with everything outride thier own personal sphere?

Im just glad that gamespot got another quite good reviewer on thier hands, anything else? For better or worse, it s not my concern, I just feel horrible how people react.

As a side comment I do find it interresting that so far, almost everyone in this thread are quite positive of Carolyn ^^ In my eyes It is just another human being trying to realise thier dream, just like everyone else.

What I DID take notice to was the quite good review ^^ Keep'em comming :P

Well, I hope Carolyn realizes that there are more people that support her on this site than don't. The most vocal people tend to be in the minority because most people that don't have an issue, don't feel the need to say anything. I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over nasty comments on websites - just take a look at cnn, youtube, etc. for some incredibly offensive comments that people make. I guess when you can post anonymously, people just like to write mean things. Who knows if that's really how they feel.

Sorry, I'm generally as liberal as they come but why is this person called "she" repeatedly? It is obviously a man. HE can certainly do whatever HE wants, but for God's sake lets call a spade a spade, people...
