After being signed in August 2006 with a much-talked about $1.5 million deal, Papoose has been officially dropped from Jive Records.

Kay Slay spoke on the new development on the radio. "We have officially gotten our release from Jive **** records. It was like a **** year of hell... Unfortunately, we almost became victims of A&R hell.

"You cannot put a 60-something-year-old white man on a 20-something-year-old black kid's project from Brooklyn, and think it's gonna pop. And like I said this ain't a bashing. It's a reality. But by the grace of everybody's... understanding, we are free. Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, free at last. We are very happy, we're popping champagne. We got our release from Jive Records, and we're just moving on."

Kay Slay further explained that Papoose and Jive "could not see eye to eye creatively." When asked what was next for him and Papoose, Kay Slay only said "oh no, we can't speak on that."

Honestly, his best bet is to go to a hip hop orientated label at this point....in fact that's the best bet for ANY rapper trying to do something with their career....Def Jam, Aftermath, etc. You won't get any love going to Atlantic, or Jive, or Universal. **** those labels, all they want is snap music garbage.

[QUOTE="Colt45fool"]Honestly, his best bet is to go to a hip hop orientated label at this point....in fact that's the best bet for ANY rapper trying to do something with their career....Def Jam, Aftermath, etc. You won't get any love going to Atlantic, or Jive, or Universal. **** those labels, all they want is snap music garbage. kobegill

Swizz Beatz and Chamillionare are on Universal. They doing fine.

Minor exceptions. Nas was on Columbia. What other rappers do you see on Columbia?

Bow Wow, DMX, Lauryn Hill, Killer Mike, Three 6 Mafia, andXzibit

Meh.

And Lauryn Hill doesn't rap anymore.

Kay Slay further explained that Papoose and Jive "could not see eye to eye creatively." When asked what was next for him and Papoose, Kay Slay only said "oh no, we can't speak on that."

he should sign with g-unit, then ditch those mofos and make 400 bars and running, and then release 50 mroe mixtapes and still say" album on the way"

Nah, **** G-Unit. Problem with signing with Aftermath is you're probably going to get a ton of G-Unit collabos, and going to get crappy Dre beats.

Crappy dre beats? What the hell you talkin about. Hes one of the better producers IMO.

He's been putting out crappy beats recently.

He did good on the documentary. and on Guz come out on the massacre. Whats one of his newer songs?

He said recently:| Documentary is from 3 years ago....

And Dre's beats have been garbage lately.

The beats that he did for 50's Curtis. Actually there is 1 beat I like from Dre that was on Curtis and that was "Fire".

he only did one beat on Curtis...

don't forget he did "hustlers"

That beat was wack.

Only recent beat he's done that's dope is "Minority Report" off Kingdom Come. Everything else has been meh from what I've heard. I've yet to listen to Curts though :(
