I know most of you see how these two genres intertwine, but a blog I found goes in-depth on this connection and how it is still heard through this day. The blog also takes brief glimpse at Hip-Hop history.
Pt. 1
Pt. 2
Peep it out y'all.

Y'all (except the two that posted) are lame for not checking this out.

I read it and it was nothing new to me. I've posted many of the exact same things and given the exact same specific examples here and in OT before. People in OT called me crazy a while back when I compared improvisation in jazz with freestyling in hip-hop...
And on a sidenote, that "Jazz Thing" video mentioned is one of my favorite hip-hop videos.
ps. it's not like y'all even care about jazz legends anyways... :(

I know it's nothing new to you......as you've been in the jazz game way longer than me, you know I was referring to the amateurs who wanted to learn something new. ;)Btw....you can't blame that Max Roach topic for not getting any responses. I doubt most of the people of my generation would've heard of the dude.....although the dude had some dope things to say about Hip-Hop. :)
I know you're setting me up for a lure in order to draw this topic off its designated course....so I'm just going to respond by saying:I dont like to read

Please read it, it won't be a waste of your life. :D

Word. I would've responded to that thread but that was just before I really got into Jazz. Max Roach and Elvin Jones are probably my favourite Jazz drummers.
The Wu remind me of Jazz a lot. All of them have their own distinctive styIes and they all get a chance to kick a verse and rip it up. Their individual personalities really comes across too. RZA's like the bandleader.
[QUOTE="iHeartCali"]And for those who aren't interested in reading......go check out the Jazz Liberatorz album. ;)Mkavanaugh77
