I for one think that Wind Waker had the best Zelda music, period. If anyone's heard the "Wind Waker Symphonic Movement" off the Zelda 25th Anniversary CD than they know what I mean when I say that this music is filled with emotion and is breathtaking.

That's a tough call. I think A Link to the Past was the best in terms of music but Ocarina is a close close second. ALttP has the best intro music while the story's being told, the best version of the overworld theme in the Light World, and IMO, the best version of Zelda's theme, particularly when you save the crystal maidens in the dark world. Whenever I beat a dark world palace, I stop and listen for a lot longer than the text is displayed. Love it.

Ocarina of Time with Majora's Mask in second. OoT took the near perfection that is ALTTP and updated it, then adding tons more. The little tunes and so on made the music so memorable and important. Majora's Mask rethough what Zelda music was and made a dark and immersive soundtrack to accompany the emotions the game presents.

I think WindWaker contains a few of the best individual tracks, the Dragoon Roost and Forest Haven themes come to mind. But I enjoyed the Twilight Princess soundtrack the most over all. OoT and MM are also fantastic. LttP and Skyward Sword are good, but not great. Spirit Tracks has the best over world theme.

I do, but remembering them doesn't beat the epicness of Wind Waker's music.

TP's soundtrack is great in the context of TP, but strip it of that and it's not as good as WW, at least IMO.

That's the point. The soundtrack is there to enhance and meld with the rest of the game. While I'd prefer for it to be listenable (I can't people that's a real word) outside of the game, it isn't a requirement for a good game soundtrack. But yeah, I could agree with you on that.

Much of the soundtrack in A Link to the Past served as the basis for much of the series after it, but I found Wind Waker to have the best mix of original pieces and remixes. In terms of the weakest, personally, Twilight Princess had the worst in terms of compositions and general sound design.

I have to say Ocarina of Time ! Obvious it was the best ;) I just loved the feeling when playing it. I also would say second is definitely Wind Waker. The music in both games is very memorable.

I have no idea why people like Ocarina of Time's soundtrack so much. The main theme was boring and with the exception of the spirit temple all the temples just had dull atmosperic background noise. The only standout song is the Gerudo desert one. Overall I'd say A Link To The Past has the best sound track but Twilight Princess's main hyrule theme would be my favorite Zelda song ever.

Only the Spirit Temple had good music? Oh come on now, the Forest Temple track was excellent. It was atmospheric, in fact it is solely responsible for that temple's dark, enigmatic atmosphere. Dull? Maybe when taken out of context, but within that setting it was perfection.

That is a really difficult question. In terms of the overall sound quality, Skyward Sword. Now, as for epic, memorable tunes that really stick with you, I'm at a three way tie between A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time.

i can't remember a single dungeon track in any zelda game. in fact until you guys pointed out i'd say there are no songs in dungeons (aside from that traditional cave music we all know and love) with a straight face and think i'm right. and if that's "good dungeon music", then i'd probably stand by it. atmospheric noise is not music.

Majoras Mask is my favorite game ever, but Ocarina Of Time is my 2nd favorite game and I think Ocarina has the better music than Majora's mask. Tho, I'd say Majoras Mask beats it in every other category, but anyhow, if anyone is interested, check out my youtube channel.... I am doing an Ocarina Of Time walkthrough there. http://www.youtube.com/user/Gaming4You1990/featured

There are a lot of dungeons with just atmospheric noise, but off the top of my head I can name a few dungeons with real songs. Zelda 1-3 all had actual songs with Zelda II's being the best. The temple of Time in Twilight Princess, The spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time and my favorite of all The Stone Tower in Majoras Mask. Oh yeah and the Hyrule Castle theme, which has been in a few games. That's definitely a good one. I really wish more dungeons had good music as it really enhances the game. Most of Ocarina of Time's dungeons just made me depressed.

I'm still going with Link's Awakening. That music is hauntingly beautiful, especially Ballad of the Windfish and that music that plays when you first wake up.

"Atmospheric noise" can be a form of music. If it has any sort of mix of pitch, dynamics, rhythm, timbre, or texture it is music, Admittedly the Forest Temple is a stretch, but the Lake Bed Temple from Twilight Princess exemplifies it well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MztvE3njT7w

still think it's too much of a stretch to call it music. in fact i'd say it sounds eerily similar to the forest temple you linked.

Yeah its a dungeon in A Link To The Past (twice), a mini dungeon in the Wind Waker and the last dungeon in Twilight Princess. All of them had the same song.

Forest Temple is more of a random assortment of looped sound bytes, Lake Bed Temple has a unifying background melody throughout the entire piece.

[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="AlmightyDerek"][QUOTE="BrunoBRS"]^ hyrule castle counts as a dungeon? :P i can only remember the field and cave themes from zelda 1, since i barely played it (can't find the second dungeon for my life, the only one i found was the one you should do last because F*CKING WIZZROBES). zelda 2 i never got past the starting area because i decided to follow the NPCs' advice and stay out of dark caves before getting a candle, only to have someone tell me the candle is in one such cave >.>

Yeah its a dungeon in A Link To The Past (twice), a mini dungeon in the Wind Waker and the last dungeon in Twilight Princess. All of them had the same song.

fine :P but i always thought of it as more of a location than a dungeon. and you forgot minish cap.

It's definitely at least a dungeon in Twilight Princess and the 2nd time it's in A Link To the Past. I guess I did forget about Minish Cap, as it's been a long time since I've played it. I'll have to play my 3DS ambassador version soon.
