https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/ba61f9/sandisk_unveils_the_extreme_1tb_microsdxc_card_at/

So pretty soon SanDisk is releasing a 1TB MicroSD Card. It's available for pre-order now and releases later this month.

The cost? A staggering $449.99.

https://shop.sandisk.com/store/sdiskus/en_US/list/categoryID.67942000?cjevent=dc95d3dd599f11e980a503dd0a240613&utm_medium=afl1&utm_source=cj&utm_campaign=5147766&utm_content=Skimlinks&utm_term=13480164

While it's worth much more than the cost of the Nintendo Switch itself, I guess it's worth noting because now a storage option exists that's half of the Nintendo Switch's maximum potential available microSD space.

Depending on how quickly the industry moves forward with improving the capacity and read speed of these chips, this might eventually become a realistic storage option in the lifespan of the Switch. But as it sits now, I can't see many people paying that much for a terabyte.

Lol wow... I have a 128GB card and have come nowhere near filling it up. I delete (most) games after I finish them.

I don't even have an SD card yet and when I do I think 128 or 256 will work just fine. Depends on how many bigger games like World of Final Fantasy get released digital only, I guess.

My 256gb card is still holding up. Maybe after a few years when the 1tb are cheaper I’ll consider but definitely not for that crazy price lol. You can just archive games and re download them when you wanna play em to free up space but with 256 I’ve not had to do it yet and I have a huge digital library on my Switch.

Since I strongly believe in games that have physical releases, I may not see the point of having 1 TB of space unless I own many digital-only games from the Switch eShop.

I'll upgrade the SD soon on mine but I just delete the games after I've finished them & backed the data up on the cloud.

@Ovirew: I think I want $449.99 dollars worth: magnetic disk storage using cloud and extended recording abilities; 30 minutes and YouTube channel video sharing against uploads. And live streaming and yes unlimited sharing instead of thirty second video clips. Go big and go bold, Nintendo, instead of tall and timid, Nintendo. And Nintendo fans. One TB is dinky.

It does become facepalmy when Nintendo makes odd decisions with their consoles. While they do some interesting things now and then with their design choices, it's frustrating how they always shy away from achieving the industry standards in many areas.

Nintendo chasing after smartphone gaming and building a stronger relationship with Microsoft tells me they realize their strengths and weaknesses, and will maybe look to other industry giants to build the hardware after the Switch years.

Wow can't believe this is really happening. An SD card with 1TB storage. God I love technology!
