Its not fare.. I had a crack on my hinge.. never bother fixing.. and now it just splited in half and nintendo wont fix it... they ask me for 74$

...hmmm yah my DS also broke a bit.

My top screen got messed up on the inside so I can no longer see anything up there...

I shouldve.. but this other guy in this forum told me to wait bit loger. so i can have longer warranti.. ill try to call them later on.. but i dont think they will fix it.. here is a imgage

U see the cicle.. the crack usually appears there then later it gets deadly.. and even a little impact can un attach/break the hinge..

Sadly, I've been parnoid about this ever since I upgraded to my onyx lite about six months ago. I'm about to buy a phat DS on ebay as a back up, but I'm still kind of worried about it.

I've had my DS lite for 5 months and mine is still in near perfect condition. How does the cracked hinge get that bad?

I'm wondering too. I bought mine less than a month ago. And also I've never seen something like that. I saw a picture of a small crack on the side.

This is why I stuck with my original DS cause I heard they break really easyliy and are made of cheap plastic.

Also, my DS Lite makes a click sound when I reach a certain point. Is this normal? It also makes a second click sound when it hits a second point (and then will go no further). Is this also normal?

Yes, its perfectly normal; the last click is a warning telling you not to open the DS lid too far anymore.

Thanks for that too. I only have a DS Fat but my friend keeps on bothering me about where the crack on his DS lite would appear. Now i can tell him.:D

Im not sure if anyone else has realized this trend but have you all noticed that most DS's with the cracked hinges are the polar white models? I still have not seen nor heard of one cracked hinge report on a black, light blue, or pink DS. At first I though it may be due to the fact that there is an abundance of white DS's until recently were my local gamestop advised me that they sell 5x's as many black DS's then white or pink ds's.

Yeah i agree. My friends has a huge crack and i think hes had it more than a year. Nintendo even sent him a package to mail it back to them in for a free replacement. u should just call again and hope u get someone else.

HAHAH beliave me man xD when my Polar White DSL started cracking i used super glue to patch it up... AND IT CRACKED SOME MORE!!! THE EVIL CRACK OF DOOM IS UNSTOPABLE D:

nope... altough a few say that the crack is still on the Onyx ones...but its kinda rare to find a crack on that model o-o
