@Nuck81: The battle system slowly unlocks as you progress, so be patient. It's mostly the same system as X but with some important differences. The combination of party members you have is more important than in X, because it's more focused on Topple and Stun.
It's also a more traditional linear RPG with a central story.
And the jump sucks. You're gonna miss the jump from X more than anything. That jump is amazing.

At times I thought X was a little too broad.
Nothing worse than being within sight of your destination but having to run all the way across the map to get around a cliff you can't climb.
