http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/30/zelda-wind-waker-hd-priced-reportedly-getting-new-difficulty-mode $49.99 Wow, I'm totally shocked by this. I stand corrected too, I said in another WW HD price prediction thread that there was no way it would be a penny less than 59.99. Cheaper is always good news for anyone buying the game!

$10 cheaper is still $10. I'll get it, but probably not right away.

I was surprised at the news, too. It almost doesn't seem like Nintendo to sell a Legend of Zelda for lower than the standard Wii U retail price.

Wow! What a huge difference! Now I will buy it! - Nobody. / / The people who wanted to get the game will get it anyway. The people who didn't want to get the game, will not buy the game.

Pretty good considering the GCN version is still pretty pricy. Unfortunately I still have to beat that version and don't particularly like all the bloom they added, so I'll be enjoying the already nice looking original :P

inb4 the difficulty is just "take double damage and everything is mirrored". still want it, still need a wii u before i get it.

he's not mocking an individual, he's pointing out he thinks it's a pointless difference. and i disagree with him. a lot of people were saying that they wouldn't get it for 60 bucks because it was "just a remake", so a lower price might get those people on board, if not at launch, then sooner than expected.

This is ridiculous, asking people to pay full price for a 10 year old game with minor cosmetic updates.

They should have really added those scrapped dungeons. It would have made this game well worth 50 dollars.

Seeing as a used copy of wind waker average $30-$40 on ebay this isn't too high. It doesn't giver much incentive to those that already own the GC version though. I somehow missed the game on GC so I'll probably buy it for Wii U and play it for the first time.

Should have been a 30 dollar game.

Sadly the Wii U has so little software this year that they can do that

If it were one of those lazy "remakes" that became common on the PS3 and 360, I would agree. But you can already see its not just a simply HD upres and who knows how far they have gone into remaking it.

Lazy would mean simply upres the game and saying "look it's in HD now give us money".

There's more work being done to this HD upgrade than the typical HD upgrade.

There are no "scrapped dungeons", they already explained those "unused" dungeons got used in some other Zelda games.

I don't think Nintendo would charge any lower than 50 dollars for a console Zelda game, enhanced port or not, even if the Wii U had more great software this year.

I would pay 59.99 for this game. Its a damn classic. As far as "minor cosmetic updates" are concerned, I still think this game will look amazing. A must get for any true Zelda fan IMO.

Nintendo must be pretty bad at being lazy if they're spending tens of millions of dollars making new textures at 1920x1080 that maintain the same overall look, changing core functions of sailing to improve game speed, changing the Tingle Tuner to integrate with Miiverse and a rumored "Master Quest" version of the game to be unlockable. i wish I was that productive when I'm "lazy".

I'm sure the entire staff who was paid tens of millions of dollars to re-do everything in 1920x1080, change the sailing mechanics to be faster and the Tingle Tuner appreciate all of their work being dismissed as "minor cosmetic updates".

I would have bought it at the $60 price tag but I was hoping it would come in at $39.99. Still, a ten dollar savings is nice.

^ Summary of above link: Amazon is now listing price as 59.99. Honestly don't care very much. Nintendo is going to try to make as much money as possible in order to return to profitability. Nintendo clearly put a good amount of effort and care into this remake and I'll be excited to purchase it regardless of the price.

 This entire thread I though Nintendo confirmed the $50 price. I just now read the article and it was only an Amazon pre-order price. Amazon tends to do these things from time to time. $60 is going to be a harder sell.

Interesting!  Not sure which I like better.  I do think the inclusion of Ganondorf in the background is a bit of a spoiler.   Fans who haven't yet played this game and who don't follow internet forums might be surprised by Ganondorf's appearance.  I'm pretty sure it was intended to be a surprise originally.  ... at least it was for me, since I was pretty young when I last played this.

This game is proof that Nintendo has gotten arrogant and lazy.

Yes, this game is way overpriced.

I resent that new gamers are getting a cool "new" game, while for a returning fan of theirs like myself, this is an experience with no wonder and no value of exploration, that I would undoubtedly be going through the motions for.  I know a lot of gamers love playing through games multiple times, but for me I love games like Zelda the first time through.  Real exploration.  Real adventure.  Not a re-run.

If there were more software coming I might be okay with overlooking this.  At this point, it has become a pattern for Nintendo though.  A go-to strategy.  Instead of making a new game, just polish up the old stuff and pretend it's a killer ap again.  Why not do the Majora's Mask thing if you want to save time and money?  Take the old game's resoources, but make a completely new experience with them.  I would be thrilled with that.  It doesn't have to perfect.

Nintendo is good about their remakes.  I agree there.  I played that Ocarina of Time 3D and I liked the changes, but the experience was a pale shadow of the first time I played through the game back in 1999 or whenever I got around to playing it.

Wind Waker HD:  Lots of effort on the techical side.  No creativity required.
