most pointless feature in the Wii if they add DVD playback, Blu Ray is about to overtake the movie market... so putting in a DVD player in the Wii is very shortsighted. and its not like everyone is still looking for a DVD player to put in their house.
I hope it does or supports AVI/DivX codecs in the future at least. I don't have much room around my tv for a DVD player and I don't like how films look on my LCD monitor, so its kinda annoying.
It would be nice for competitions sake. I mean Nintendo can go off and do their own thing, but the DVD/CD player would be something that it would have in 'common' with PS3 and the 360. It just seems to be general equipment now.
