But the cards have been unavaible for all week on Canada's website
Here's another source for you guys as well from cheapassgamer. At my local Toys-R-Us, the cards were still 20$ this week, not 14$, the sale doesnt start until tomorrow.

Crap
I can't resist a good 3 for 2 sale.

No sir, you're not buying Wii related products any time soon. No 3 for 2 sale for you!
I, however, will be heading up there tomorrow :)

The sale is all software though.
I haven't decided the stance I'm picking on points cards either. I mean Dodge Ball WAS on the VC before recent changes so I don't know if that applies yet.
I really need to get a secretary so I can dictate to her as I think of it.

So you're boycotting Nintendo, except when you see a sale? :P

Well no, that's the tricky part.
Like we already know that Wii disks are off limits so that leaves "other" software for these sales.
Then what do I do with the Virtual Console?
I have a few hundred and would get more so I could pick up Dodge Ball because it was released before Nintendo did what it did but if I got a points card would that apply to today if I bought them with the intent to get a game before?

Have someone gift you the game, with points purchased a couple of weeks ago.
It's fool-proof!
Then you can just gift a game in return, after Nintendo has changed tides.
awww, no canada =[Toro_Nev
Oh...never read that part. Darn.
Oh well, I'll go and buy one soon anyway :P.

Except that with the major sudden increase in Jaysonguy's VC spending, Nintendo will get even more money hungry and it'll lead directly to Nintendo spending less time on 'Wii discs' and more time releasing those old games that people have already played!!!
It's the GC Wii-remakes all over again!!!
NO!!!
I don't see the point of boycotting software if you're trying to find loopholes around the boycotting :P
Regardless, Nintendo will recieve the exact amount of money whether you gift a game or not. Therefore, your unreasonable attempt to boycott software licensed by Nintendo will be rendered useless.

You have no problem buying old games on the VC but you have a problem with buying old GC games? Make up your mind.
Jayson I really think the whole boycott thing is ridiculous. I don't understand what you get out of it? Its not like Nintendo is forcing you to buy the remakes.
Even if you disagree with one thing the company does, I don't understand why you would boycott everything, especially since your not being forced to buy them.
As for the Wii Points, its not on sale in Canada .. but I still need them for World of Goo.

Does anything on the Virtual Console play on the Wii in it's original form?Does anything on the Virtual Console play on the Wii in it's original form?Jaysonguy
No, however every game is presented in its original form except N64 and TG-16 CD games. The former have been updated for 480p output and the later has been compressed into an MP4.
Until Ikaruga (which is 40MB) is downloadable on the Wii, nothing can legally play both ways.
I called my ToysRus and they said the point cards dont get a discount along with the wiimotes and nunchucks. Is this deal legit? has anyone actually purchased discount point cards?andrewham7
Ya. If you look online under the Memory section, you'll see that the 2000 Wii Points card is listed as 40% off. If you click on the card's description, it says at the bottom, "Sun & Mon Only! 40% off Select Wii Accessories!" It says that ON the Wii Points card page. These are all the eligible items.

Does anything on the Virtual Console play on the Wii in it's original form?Jaysonguy
Why should that matter? Either way, Nintendo is using resources to port old games onto the Wii. I thought you were boycotting Nintendo because they were focusing too much on porting old games to the Wii. Doesn't the virtual console factor into this? In fact, the success of the VC is probably what prompted them start porting GC games to the Wii.

This isn't difficult NES carts don't play on the Wii Gamecube disks do Nintendo is wasting money on something that can already be played.[QUOTE="Rocky32189"][QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]Does anything on the Virtual Console play on the Wii in it's original form?Jaysonguy

This isn't difficult NES carts don't play on the Wii Gamecube disks do Nintendo is wasting money on something that can already be played. It doesn't matter. It's the exact same principle. You act like this is the first time Nintendo has ever rereleased games for cheap profit. They've done this so many times, you should have come to expect it. It's how they do business. We all all love Nintendo, but there's no denying that they'll do anything for a profit.
So, if the Wii didn't have backwards compatibility, you'd be okay the GC ports? If Nintendo removes backwards compatibility in a future update to the Wii (they did it with DS; why not Wii?) would your stance change?

Yes, the reason I dislike them now is because they're taking games that can already be played and they're tacking on controls that were never intended for the games and then releasing them again. Completely ignoring the fact that one of the Wii's major selling points was that it was the only console that supported 100% of it's last gen library.
NES games aren't screwed with. They're put on the console as is without a single coat of polish. You can't put a NES cart in the Wii so here comes the Virtual Console. Old games released again with no additions.
This is more then just porting a game. As I've said before if they would just copy the games directly regular sized DVD's and release them I'd be fine with it.
Instead Nintendo has to waste time and screw with them.
