I am here in France and I would like to buy some games for my Wii. But my Wii is a US version. I am not sure if it will work if I buy some games from France for my Wii US version because of some difference of region. Does anybody has knowledge of this topic? If it is ok to play games from Europe for my US version of Wii.

As the Wii is region locked you have 2 choices:

1. Import NTSC (US) games.

2. Buy a PAL (EU) Wii.

3 - Hack your Wii to run import games.

Joystiq.com had a guide to run an imported Xenoblade Chronicles on a US system back in August of 2011 - obviously before it was brought out in the US.

only catch is some system updates will remove modding and hombrew options.

The mod process blocks system updates so you don't have to update, it's not like those updates offer anything worthwhile anyways :p
