I agree. But also, some of the games are well made, some, not so much. The one for the Wii was amazing. I also like how the first playthrough is amazing.
Things I like - everything about the first 2
Things I don't like - Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star
I enjoyed Paper Mario and it built up a great foundation for the series.
Thousand Year Door is one of my favorite games of all time, and is the definition of perfect sequel.
Super Paper Mario has an amazing story, arguably the best in the series (or of any Mario game), but really missed the turn based battles and other RPG elements.
Sticker Star was Paper Mario in graphics and name only. It had a non-existent story, boring gameplay and was just horrible in general. All copies should be rounded up and be buried in ET's landfill.

This.
If the rumored one comes out for WiiU I hope to heaven that it's an RPG like Thousand Year Door or the Original and not like the Wii or 3DS versions. TYD was so good! I can't think of anything I disliked about it.
I thought the first three games were all good. ...I don't know if I ever actually completed any of those games tbh, but I know I had a lot of fun with Super Paper Mario, though a lot of fans didn't like it. I heard a lot of bad things about Sticker Star, but I still wonder if it's really so bad.
Well, there's sure to be another Paper Mario game one day.

Sticker star was probably the worst of the 4
I loved the 1st and 2nd games with thousand year door being an all time fave. Didn't like Super Paper Mario at all. I like the rpg elements, and it was lacking in spm.
@lord_magikarp: I remember a lot of people being mad that items were one-time-use. Is that the main reason why people disliked it? I guess that approach sounds kind of interesting to me, adds a layer of strategy to sticker management. If the game was short or not well-designed, I could understand the dislike.
@iambatman7986: You can prefer one style of play over another, but wouldn't you agree that the Paper Mario games aren't very heavy RPGs to begin with? I guess I enjoyed SPM because it was kind of like a classic Mario game, mixed with elements of the Paper Mario games. I can understand that it probably wasn't the best Paper Mario game, but I didn't really think it was a lousy game by any means.
Paper Mario has always been light on rpg elements for sure. I just preferred the turn based combat and the learning of paper moves to get to new areas over the switching from 2d to 3d to uncover different paths. i've started SPM 3 times now thinking that maybe I was being too harsh, but for whatever reason, it just couldn't hold my interest. I still have it at home and may try it again. I think my issue is I'm still expecting it to be like the 1st 2 Paper Mario games, but it really couldn't be any more different. I won't call it a lazy game, but just not what I was expecting from a Paper Mario game. Like I said though, i may not have given it a fair chance either.

They tried to change it up with the sticker use, but you never really run out of stickers cause they are everywhere. A lot of the puzzles felt gimmicky though and battles never felt as strategic as the last games cause really you were using the same sticker over and over again until you face a boss and use a sticker you were saving... just felt dull really with no sense of progression...

No... they've got plenty of RPG elements. They're pure turn based RPG's.
