You know it's coming and that this is a series that won't be dying anytime soon. I don't own a Switch yet but will most likely own one in the next few days or on the 22nd since my store gets the Neon Switch that day. What new powerup or built in gimmick do you guys expect next? I really enjoyed the whirl gimmick that Nintendo brought for NSMBWii. I hope that's a feature that will stay and never go away for future NSMB games. I wasn't too big of a fan of the flying squirrel suit in NSMBWiiU but, I really enjoyed the baby Yoshi's and their unique powers. Also, them singing to the stage music was so cute I had to punch the wall to feel manly again. So, what do you guys expect from NSMBSwitch and what stuff from the previous games would you like to see come back?

I'm expecting great level design and a bland art style.

I'm hoping they get creative with the art style. The kind of creativity we saw in the "Starry Night" inspired levels.

I feel like we won't see one on Switch. Like that itch was well scratched on the 3DS and Wii U?

I rather like to see the 3D version of Super Mario Maker.

I just got to those stages in the game. I was blown away at how fascinating they were. I had to sit and just stare at the screen for a while just to admire the scenery.

The thing is, 2D Mario games sell well.

As a point of comparison between the 2D New series vs. 3D Mario games:

DS:
(3D) Mario 64: 11.06m
(2D) NSMB: 30.8m

3DS:
(3D) 3D Land: 11.4m
(2D) NSMB: 11.73m

Wii:
(3D) Galaxy: 12.75m
(3D) Galaxy2: 6.36m
(2D) NSMB: 30.11m

Wii U:
(3D) 3D World: 5.7m
(2D) NSMB: 5.73m

As you can see, all the 2D games have outsold the 3D games.

Nintendo would be fools not to release a 2D game on the Switch.

I guess Nintendo will have to make that choice soon. Unless the main Mario team is working on DLC for Odyssey. I wonder what they can do to make it feel fresh?

The 2D games have always been more accessible. Go from point A to point B, level done. The 3D games are not designed like that.

They go deeper than that. There are a lot of secret paths you need to find and figure out how to access as well to unlock the other worlds.

Not much. Great level design and gameplay... what else can we expect from it?

It's why they sell well, because of casual gamers. 2D Mario and Mario Kart are the top selling games on the consoles. On the handhelds you add Pokemon to the list.

I don't expect much, just another entry in the series. What I hope though, is something different. I kinda wish Nintendo would merge Mario Maker with NSMB and put in some Nostalgia. Kinda like Sonic Mania, but you not only get old levels with new elements and new worlds, but you also go through the different styles of past 2D Marios. And that's just the "Story mode" with an extended Mario Maker to make sure you have an endless amount of levels to play.

As much as i hate to say this, but it wouldnt surprise me if nintendo reworks some of the levels in 3d world and put it on switch. Seems like they are bringing a lot of last generation games to the switch.

Honestly I hope it becomes a bit more difficult. Or like a hard mode or something like that because it is way too easy to get lives these past few games. At least the difficulty of NSMB on the DS
