What I am referring to is the memory expansion pack that is currently for sale with the DS Opera Browser. This pack fits into the GBA slot and gives the DS an additional 10 MB of RAM for a grand total of 14 MB. Obviously, this means the DS only has 4 MB of internal RAM. If this memory pack was utilized for games the quality of gameplay would improve as games that lag could be given a solid frame-rate and the draw distances of 3D games would be much further. If anyone agrees post here.
That would be pretty cool, but that also means that ppl who don't but that pack get shut out in the cold. It either needs to be built into the unit, or thrown in with the game that needs it. Nintendo may do it though (Look the expansion pack for the N64).
Well, your half right... See, that initial expansion pack is coded for the browser... So if a developer wanted to utilize there game with said expansion pack, they would need to emulate the browsers ability to detect and engage the expansion pack... That process would take up to much memory and would be even less effective than the theory at hand... But, if Nintendo wanted to do something similar, there is always the possibility of making game ready expansion paks for that use or some other means of game enhancement....
