Too late or still on time?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
nope, i think this is a good time right now. there is the 200 dollar bllack wii bundle (great deal), and so many great games to choose from, not to mention the load of great games coming out soon.
as for a new system, i would worry about that after 2012+ because this gen is still running well, and nintendo is still making profits from the wii, and they are going to focus on the 3ds for awhile. so ya if you want to get a wii, this is a grreat time to do so
at least this is the answer to what i thought your quetion wass...
Stop listening to Pachter and forum dwellers. Nintendo will launch a new home console around the same time as their competitors.
Just in time as there are a lot of great titles out there and you can grab them for cheap!Too late or still on time?
oscar_mateo
Just on time dude. You can get the black wii bundle which is an awesome deal. Then you can get Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Brawl which are very cheap now depending on where you buy them. After you beat all those games you can get super mario galaxy 2, and skyward sword and other m.
[QUOTE="Warship_19"]You need to be more clear.oscar_mateoIf it is too late and nintendo might launch a new console.
Yes it's too late for you
Nintendo is right on schedule to release a new console in holiday of 2011, it's been almost 2 years since they've shown growth on the console and they're the only console manufacturer to not show growth over that time. I think that they see they've done all they can on the Wii and we'll soon see it's replacement.
Just remember Nintendo's cycles
SNES 1991

Gamecube 2001
Wii 2006
Next Nintendo console 2011
Nintendo is very set in it's ways to run a console for half a decade and then start with a new console
If you're worried about a new console and 14 months isn't a long time for you then yes, it's too late for you personally to buy a Wii
Why can't people just enjoy a game or console for what it is, enjoy what it can offer and forget about how new it is?
If you're looking to buy something that will not be made obsolete, technology is not where you should be shopping.
I still play my NES and I love it. I drive 25-40 year old cars around town and I built a newjoystick from scratch and new arcade partsto play all of my consoles with on certain games. I'll play my wii 15 years from now if it still works.
You don't actually have to buy a black Wii. The white one is bundled with 2 games now too. But yeah 2012 will probably be the year a new console will come out.Just on time dude. You can get the black wii bundle which is an awesome deal. Then you can get Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Brawl which are very cheap now depending on where you buy them. I doubt it. In this economic climate, they might release a Wii 2.0 (same system with extra features), but I doubt we'll see a new generation of console for awhile.

[QUOTE="Warship_19"]You need to be more clear.oscar_mateoIf it is too late and nintendo might launch a new console. Why should that matter? You waited 4yrs to consider getting the Wii, why would you suddenly be in a hurry to get the next Nintendo console? I don't see why you would concern yourself with that that, you can get the Wii and then get the next system when you feel like it.

You can't judge when a new system will be out. Just because there has been a pattern before does not mean that there is one now. Game companies also show off games for the new hardware a year a head of time. Nintendo did not show off new console hardware or games, so there your prediction goes. Nintendo have also stated that their next console is quite far away. Nintendo just now is starting to support the motion quite frequently, they are not going to support it heavily just to drop it a year later.

As you see no company has followed the pattern to heart. Game developers have already said that games are becoming more expensive so I doubt anyone will come out with a brand new console super soon. There are already games scheduled to come out in 2012 so even if you are right by some rare chance, games will still be made for Wii for quite a bit plus all the back log. I see you mentioned nothing but shovelware.
Don't mention any good games or potential good games like Donkey Kong Returns, Kirby's epic Yarn, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid prime, Metroid other M, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. Punch Out. Zelda Skyward sword, NBA Jam, Muramasa the demon blade, new mario bros, de blob, Zack and Wiki, Fire Emblem, Pikmin 3, Dragon Quest X. Cave Story.
Oh I forgot, you hate the good games on Wii, it all sucks to you.

Yeah really. This generation isn't following the same patterns that previous ones have.. Look at the DS it will have at least a 6 year lifespan before it's replaced by the 3DS. The GBC and GBA only had 3 years each.

I am not even counting the redesigns because they are the same. GBC is the original gameboy just with color.
There are enough wii games out to justify a purchase of the system. I need to catch up myself. I have been in college and don't have the time or money to buy very many games. This is probably Wii's best fall season since it has been out. It definitely has been the best year
With games like No More Heroes 2, Red Steel 2, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Monter Hunter 3, Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid other M, Sin and Punishment 2, Donkey Returns, Kirby's epic yarn, NBA jam, Goldeneye (maybe) Sonic Colors (maybe) How can anyone say there aren't any veteran titles on the system at this point?

Another generation probably isn't set till quite some time, as Nintendo are working on the 3DS. So I would say no it is not too late, but if you are a VC (Virtual Console) fan I would probably think it is much too late as it seems NOA (Nintendo of America) isn't issuingthe usual amount ofVCs that they used to and the average releases per Monday has fell to almost 0. So Mainly No you are not late but if you are a VC fan yes it is much too late.

The Gameboy Color was a different system. Other than adding color its processor was twice as fast and had four times the amount of ram, which is about the same difference between the Wii and the Gamecube. It also has plenty of games that would only run on the GBC. It was definitely it's own system, it just wasn't a huge upgrade. Now is actually the perfect time to own a wii, so many great games are out you will be spoilt for choice, although I also do get a feeling that the next console will be announced late 2011.
The pattern they usually follow, the announcement of the 3DS and the 2nd zelda has been announced which tends to be realeased very late in the consoles life. Majora's Mask, twilight princess
