I've always been a fan of The Windwaker, but now I'm playing Okami and I have to admit that that game is better. It has a more unique style, excellent gameplay elements, amazing music and nice story with lots of humor.

you are link. go save "land/princess" from "evil".

Its the Nostalgia which works the best for the zelda games now, along with the sleek combat and puzzle solving. The plot in zelda has barely changed in each itteration of the game, never understood how anyone would say its "good story-telling", the stories are just an excuse to explore the beautifully created worlds with the same old catchy tunes from the very first game.

True, but I mean added with all of the side-quests and such you have to do, it all sums up into one story, that's what I love about it.

the storyline and puzzles that just suck you and want you wanting more. In the next legend of zelda, they should make the combat a little more fun. i also enjoyed the graphics from all of the legend of Zeldas :P

the exploration is my favorite part of the zelda series. zelda is an adventure series and its the largest single factor that i use to judge a zelda game. there are often bigger worlds than hyrule, but none that make me want to explore every inch as much.

The best part of the Zelda series for me is the use of varied items to solve complex puzzles and a vast land to explore in detail. Also, it may very well have the greatest music of any gaming franchise ever.

Well maybe not hate, but I wasn't a huge fan. The whole game just felt rather tedious to play through. It was just more of the same, where as Wind Waker was new and refreshing. Besides the lack of bringing something new to the table, I didn't think the motion controls were executed properly, I thought it was a little too easy even for family friendly Nintendo, and I thought playing as a dog was... questionable. lol Overall the game was just boring. It's the only Zelda I've forced myself to play through. :(

The Wind Waker set my standards for a Zelda game. An actual story, massive nonlinear exploration, side quests, its ability to suck me in, and a lot of other things.

Slaughtering chickens

Gender confused characters

Music

Pink Bunnies

Sexy sidekicks (midna, true form)

Giant bosses

What's not to love??? There series just needs a little kick in the rear to get going again.

All of the exploration, the same memorable and lovable characters, great puzzle solving in elemental dungeons, stories that always have plot twists, huge boss battles (that are usually too easy though!), different methods of travel, instruments, and just everything that makes Zelda, Zelda. Oh, and we can't forget Tingle! :P

The jingle when you solve a dungeon puzzle and the jingle that you hear when you open a treasure chest, especially an important tresure.

I like it because it's essentially the same story every time, there's no jump button, no voice acting, the puzzles are really easy and predictable, the formula of "go to dungeon, collect important item, beat boss by using item, repeat process through 8 more dungeons" has never changed, and most importantly, I like the fans who think the series is the best thing ever to happen to the world, and who wait impatiently for years for the next game, creating thread after thread of "new Zelda yet?" or "Where's teh Hardcore games Nintendo?".

Although I do agree that some Zelda's do share the same story (what game doesn't). It not the actual story that I love (although I do like the Zelda story). It is the way the story is written and presented. It always makes me feel like I am on this truly epic quest to save the world. Zelda games do have good story-telling to say the least. It is not the best, but it certainly is not bad either.

Most of all: the very controversial timeline that I sometimes lose nights of sleep over. I've played every Zelda except PH, but that's already confirmed to be a direct sequel to WW. I jot down notes about characters, The Triforce, Ganon, Vaati, villains the position of the Master sword, villages, the races (Zoras, Gorons, Deku Scrubs, etc) time eras, articles of Zelda info, etc. Figuring it out drives me insane ...but I like the insanity

Puzzles and exploration. The best in the biz. Also that amazing Zelda style. It's always the most charming series out there. To be honest it's hard to pinpoint just on singular thing that makes Zelda great. The variety in these games is always so great, maybe that's why.
