im getting one of them and want to know which one is better? i could get both , but im also think about getting a neogeo game , any bonk game and a mario game. i already have the first mario bros.
The first one is easily better. The second one isn't even really a Mario game, and (IMO) it shows... But the third one is also great. Possibly better than the first.
Like I said, 2 isn't even a real Mario game. It was a completely separate platforming game in Japan that just had Mario sprites pasted into it for the US release. So all the mechanics (you can't even stomp on enemies!) and general feel of the game are different. Yeah, a lot of people still like the game, but it doesn't feel like Mario. SMB3 really took off where the original left off, keeping the classic gameplay whileexpanding Mario's abilities, adding tons of secrets, etc.
3 is by far the best, either that or super mario world. So many more power ups other than flower, and so clever. I have been playing 3 for the whole week, i havent touched my 360 or ps3 thats how good 3 is.
The first if you want a more traditional one. The 3rd perfected the first. IMO the second is still a must play although it is different. I believe it was released as a different game in Japan and had Mario characters slapped onto it for a US release. And Super Mario World for theSNES easily rivals SMB3. THEY ARE ALL MUST PLAYS!!
im wouldnt get super mario world for snes becuz i still have my snes and SMW and it still works and STILL have the both controllers.Ratchet-Man
Well, if you want to see the evolution of them, play them in order. Or play 1, then 3, and then 2 if you want something different. If you just want to playthe cream of the crop for the NES get 3.
LOL. No love for 2? I think it was a much better game then 1... also you can play as Luigi and Toad... what more can anyone want.Giff1988
I think it's better than one too. Great boss battles. One is nostalgic and paved the way for platformers and deserves all its credit, but still had room to improve and that's where SMB3 comes along, but it is still a good game.
mario2 is still a good game regardless of whether or not it is a real mario game. i'm not sure which one i would choose though since i already have both for the NES already. the original is definitely easier to find...
