super bomberman R gets patch. makes 30fps game now 60fps! now with digital foundry...

I wonder how many gamers will take advantage of the patch for a low-profile game.

@onesiphorus: I think it's the 4th best selling Switch title.

I gave up on Bomberman R, it just isn't the best Bomberman game I've ever played, and really pales in comparison to every other game I have for my Switch. It has been replaced by the much better Binding of Isaac Afterbirth +.

Still, I guess it's cool Konami is trying to make improvements to their lackluster game.

I'll get it when it's cheaper. Now if they make a Bomberman style like the one on Gameboy advance, I'm all in.

a full analysis of the patch....

multiplayer docked- was 1080p 30fps.... is now 720p 60fps

story mode docked- was 1080p 30fps....now is 1080p 45fps

handheld mode multiplayer- was 720p 30fps...is now 960x540 (almost 480p) 60fps

handheld story mode- was 720p 30fps......is now 720p 45 fps

you can get a used copy from best buy for 35$ with you gamersclub card.

i just bought it. i have to support someone who tries so hard to fix a game!

the single player is 1080p 45 fps compared to before 1080p 30fps. how is that an ouch?

unless you mean multiplayer mode? even ps4 killzone had to lower the rez to get 60fps....in multiplayer the framerate is more important than resolution.
and in a 2d game how much can you notice 720p to 1080p? i guess you are used to cinematic experiences.

just got the game today.....

story mode is cool.....1080p 45fps....plays nice

then....

then... i went online to try it out..... 60fps or not this thing has input lag up the butt....controls horribly imo.

60fps couldnt save the online....

on another note...some people are great at the online and move quite well in it...so i am impressed that some people are able to play brilliantly through the lag.

Used for $35??? Is this game any better than what I paid $10 for on the Xbox?

it's for a physcial copy. the 360 one is just a digital file.

It's interesting how many trolls comment on performance, while understanding nothing about game engines, systems and optimization. Yes, extra power in a system helps but that means nothing in the developer doesn't do a good job on their end. A poorly made game will run bad on PS4 Pro, Scorpio, PC wherever. but noooo, it's just the Switch, lol. Keep up the good work trolls, you do make me laugh. Also yay for the patch (although the developer should have had it running like this or better before launch).

i just had a bit of a revelation with this game.

i had stated online and overall the controls were wierd and clunky. i was using the dual joycon grip......don't have a pro controller.

but....

i just tried using a single joycon on its side and..... well...it controls soooo much better. i don't know why but everything is much more responsive on a single joycon.

so if you just bought the game or stopped playing. try it out!

another game i like better with a single joycon is nba playgrounds :)...oh and shovel knight is also better on a single...it's so wierd.....
