It's free, but the only thing that can tell you if it is good or bad is how the developers takae advantage of it. If it is complicated to start, then it won't be any good at all. If it's simple to use and you can find players at your skill level, it can't fail.
You have to realize, it was a year after the release of the X-box before X-box live was even started and its still an ongoing process of improvements. The Wii has only been out three months. Online play will come and it will be good. Nintendo knows what the hell they are doing, they haven't failed at many things yet.

Really? I can think of a lot of ways they've failed so far with Wii alone.

Square said they wouldn't port FFXI because Nintendo demanded friend codes.

u can't say it'l be bad cause of the FCs, u don't even know how they'l be implimented. maybe it'll be where the parents can use Parental Controls to decide if they want their kids only playing with ppl on their address book or if they want them to be able to play anyone. I say don't judge how it'll be until we actually know something about it.
