"Other M" may have been inspired by the original Metroid?

I posted this picture in another thread, and I just noticed something:

Metroid Ending

Notice the line "But, it may be invaded by the other metroid."

I always dismissed this as a poor translation, but perhaps Nintendo is going to use this to create something new. Perhaps "the other metroid" is actually a different kind of metroid, rather than "more metroids" as I always thought the meaning to be. Not phazon enhanced metroid, but a completely different species.

Anyways, just a thought. It would be funny if they turned a poor translation into the inspiration for a new game, hehe.

That would be interesting. I wonder if the "Other M" will be psychotically difficult like Ninja Gaiden 2?

I hope it's actually difficult. NG2 just had a wonky camera/controls.

Yea a few other websites have picked up on this as well, so it could very well be connected. But if other m stands for "other metroid" are we gonna end up with a game that has the full name of "Metroid: other Metroid"?:P

I think all Metroid games were inspired by the first.:P

On a serious note, I hope there are some ruthless metroids to kill. Big ones, like in the original.

Yeah, some people were arguing about this on another forum. My suggestion to you is:

Just check to see if the japanese name for 'Metroid: other M' matches the ending screen on the japanese version of the original metroid.

That should tell you something.

Old News. And even if it is inspired by the first (As all of them are) it will still rock because the first Metroid rocked.

I remember seeing a interview somewhere (probably IGN) where Yoshio Sakamoto, when asked about a possible connection between that line and Other M, he replied something like "WTF are you talking about? First Metroid? That was eons ago, can't remember."

Old news, and Sakamoto didn't even remember that when asked about it in a interview. Also, you can tell that end message is total non sense, what the hell is that supposed mean? Obviously a tacked on cliffhanger.

I hope it's incredibly easy. I never liked how Metroid games were pretty difficult.

I hope it heavily disappoints you then.

They may have tied it in but if they didn't, then it may end up "accidentally" tying in.

it would be kinda cool, but if anything.... wouldn't that have been the story from Super Metroid that Samus took with her?

either way, that is a corny ending! lol

Ninja Gaiden really isn't difficult its just cheap, I would prefer they keep that out of my Metroid and all games in general.

metroid is a plural form and a singular form combined ya know? Like Deer. Moose. They can refer to one thing Or more then one thing at a time without changing it. You wouldn't say METROIDS, you would say Metroid. The other metroid is referring to ALL metroid. Such as those pesky little things from the more recent game.

Where in the world did you come up with that plural form of Metroid?

Wasn't "the other Metroid" just a mistranslation?

i was thinking "other M" referred to something like "the M that not from metroid"... it's a weird theory, but if i remember well, it's not the first time it happens.

Have you played Hypermode on MP3? I started a new game on that difficulty like "ah it'll be a cakewalk". It wasn't. Hypermode beat me mercilessly until I feebly dragged my tattered body across the floor and turned off the game. It was too much for me to handle. (Actually I accidentally hit don't continue on a boss and it sent me back a very difficult hour so I got mad and quit but whatever. Its hard). I'm all for hard games and I'd certainly like a challenge but I also like my games being beatable, even if it requires some practice.
