In the past we had a few Pokémon games. They started with Yellow, Red, Blue. Later we got Gold, Silver, etc. All where for the Gameboy (Advance).

Nowadays we've more Pokémon games and what I ask from you is to help me decide which Pokémon game is the best. I like Pokémon Gold and Silver, but I don't want to play those games anymore on the Nintendo DS. I want a new kind off Pokémon game, with the old and new Pokémon in it and atleast +/- 50 game hours.

Pokemon Black and White.
Black and White are the most up-to-date games with a total amount of 649 Pokemon.
You can only encounter new Pokemon in the main story, but older pokemon appear once you defeat the Elite 4. You can, however, obtain older pokemon by online trade as soon as you get your first Gym Badge and obtain the C-Gear.

There's a lot of content, especially if you start battling competitively. You can easily get 50+ hours of playtime in Black or White. I currently have 736 hours in Black, and I'm still going strong.

You might also want to consider buying Pokemon Black 2 and White 2. They're coming out later this year for the DS.
They're not an enhanced version of Black and White like how Pokemon Yellow was for Red and Blue. They're sequels. Apparently a whole new adventure. ;)

Yeah, Blacks probably the best one, but I say that reluctantly, as Platinum deserves love too. :(

I've spent hundreds of hours just collecting them all. Arranging trades, breeding, leveling pokemon so they evolve, finding the right items, etc. all take a long time. I've never been into the whole competitive side of Pokemon but I occasionally take the time to put together a decent setup for a pokemon I like.

I've spent about 300+ hours in Ruby, but I just couldn't last more than 80 in Black and White. The region was just too bland.

I can understand that. It definitely doesn't feel like there are as many places to explore in this one. I still need to gather all my pokemon in preparation for the next game though. :D

If you're looking for game length and a good re-introduction to the series, I'd suggest Soulsilver/Heartgold. 2 regions, 16 gym leaders, bunch of pokemon in both regions, fight Red at the end.

If you're looking for the latest games in the series go for black/white. I'd strongly suggest waiting for these at this point. I don't know what they're going to introduce with Black/White 2 but I'd wait to see what they have before making a purchase. They could be the "3rd game" of the bunch with added features, or they could be completely new games. In either case I'd wait to see what they have to offer and get a copy of Platinum or Soulsilver/Heartgold for now.

They're sequels though. They're picking up where the last story line ended. It might be a good idea to at least rent B/W., OP just so you understand what's going on. it's not too much, but it might be worth it.

Team Plasma, who dress up like medieval knights (?) come into town through the help of random sages who decide what's best for everyone. Then a pedophile by the name of N shows up and tells you why you're wrong for believing the things you do about pokemon. (Insert 8 gyms/gym leaders and random towns here.) Then you go to the SURPRISE! ELITE 4! And then you fight the creepy pedo who took you on a ride on a ferris wheel.

:|

Seriously, if you're playing the game for the plotline you're doing it wrong.

I have never clocked more than 250 hours out of pokemon, and that was when I was younger playing Sapphire. Can't remember how many I had clocked in for Yellow and Gold.

Black and White are the obvious answers. Don't feel like playing that, wait for B/W2.

Also, all of the Pokemon games can easily go beyond 50 hours.

This.

N's heart is pure and innocent, but he was raised by a cold-hearted man by the name of Ghetsis. He spent most of his life in that castle, separated from other humans. His only friends were Pokemon; Pokemon that were betrayed and mistreated by horrible people. Ghetsis deliberately brought those Pokemon closer to N.

Natural Harmonia Gropius was sheltered, brainwashed, and manipulated for Ghetsis' evil deeds. He's not a pedophile.

I really enjoyed Pokemon Pearl I thought it was one of the best pokemon games. Also I SoulSilver is great too! Once you beat the Johto region you can go and beat the Kanto region too! Plenty of fun in that game as well!

I'm gonna go retro and say G/S. It's not that B/W were bad, I just couldn't get into it. R/B are my second favorite.

Note: On the topic of that interesting conversation towards the top of this page I noticed that N's room reminds me of King Porky's room... Who else noticed that Black/White had some minor and obscure similarities to Mother 3?

After about 40+ hours with B/W, I am starting to like it more. I still think it is the worse of the Pokemon games I have played, in terms of the Pokemon (every gen except D/P). In terms of Pokemon R/B > G/S > R/S > B/W, however I remember enjoying G/S the most.

Yeah, but story and gameplay wise it really destroys all other pokemon games. Once having played Black and White there's no return. The older games are really just too slow. (especially now i know better with B/W).
