yea this is just horrible. i mean if nintendo made all those games avialable somehow even if i have to pay it would be fine.

but they only release the bigger titles and all the others are lost forever. thats bull.

obviously with the paid online and all the nes games they are going to re-release they thought emulation would be a detriment.

oh well, nothing we can do legally. they should use torrent sites to distrubute now imo. become a bit more hard to find.

@KBFloYd: This is just a silly move all round. They could never get all the rom sites to close down it would be impossible and people would just torrent them anyway.

Always a bad pr move to go after people making copies.

@jackamomo: "...are Nintendo the meanest company in gaming?"

Yes, how dare Nintendo protect their valuable intellectual property from people attempting to illegally distribute it.

And, no, there is no argument that Nintendo should do otherwise. Nobody is entitled to these games no matter how anyone might feel about it, and Nintendo is 100% right to do this.

@dzimm: By rights they should contribute to the programmers who's emulators they used code from to make their own emulators.

Also when they download roms from roms sites to re-release the game as there are no physical copies around any more.

Also, a property is not valuable if no-one knows about it.

@jackamomo: You do realize that it's BS that Nintendo uses the work of pirates for their own releases, as if they don't have access to their own IP and can't make their own emulators.

@dzimm: They used source code from existing emulators I just can't be bothered to fct check it.

The reason I know this is emulators have been evolving for the past 20 years so it would hardly make sense to start from scratch when they are already so sophisticated.

@jackamomo: Yeah, doubtful. Nintendo has been making emulators for decades going all the way back to the "Classics" series of NES games on the Game Boy Advance and the NES games in the first Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. They have access to the original source code and hardware specs of every system and game they've ever released - not to mention a lot of the original programmers and engineers who made them! - so why the hell would they need to download a 3rd party emulator from the internet? Think about it.

They won't actually stop emulators.
