New Wii user here: Wii Sports skill level goes back to 0, Why?

Am I missing some step that I need to do to get this saved? I get a few hundred skill points playing tennis, then when I go back to play later, its back to zero.....frustrating? Help greatly appreciated!

I'm using the same Mii every time...just can't figure this out...btw, I loved the quote from War Games..

Never heard of that before. Make sure you're using the same Mii each time. Good luck. And dont sweat it to much,WiiSports isn't a game thats fun for to long anyways

Did you turn off the game before letting it save? Like, instead of exiting through the main menu, you just turned off your console or something?

PS, your score really doesn't matter that much.
