More signs BWii will be dissapointing . . .

The Wii-k in review podcast over at IGN was summarized on Go Nintendo, the folowing was said about BWii, of which IGN has recieved the final copy:

Battalion Wars 2
- Got it in today.
- Matt is pretty happy with it so far - good fun.
- Feels a lot like the Gamecube version, haven't seen much new stuff yet.
- Visuals show quite a lot of improvements, especially the beautiful water.
- Using the nunchuk to jump is a bit frustrating. Using the pointer doesn't really add much, especially in terms of camera control, which is slow and there is no sensitivity setting to change it.
- Doesn't really make big jumps from the original in terms of game mechanics. They would have liked to be able to control the direction of your forces on a map.
- However, he still feels satisfied with it. He's not blown away but he really enjoyed the original and this is a solid continuation of it.

The thing that stands out to me is that there are no big jumps from the Gamecube version. Granted you have Wi-fi, and I may be looking at the cup half empty here, but I really believe this franchise on the Wii had the potential to become a clasic.

At least the game sounds solid, but so far I'm hoping for more in the final review.

lol you beat me to it. Well im still getting this game anway.Never played the first one so it will be a step upfor me. and i dont really mind about anything with one player i just want to play onlineand it will hold me out till i get another game.

yes but i wasn't planning on getting what ever that game you mentioned is this was actually a fun game but if i won't be able to play it against friends then its pointless i am goin to get halo 3 instead.Baller4444

Baller4444, you were holding out on Halo 3 because of BWii?? That seems unusual since they are completely different type of games.

What else is there to add? :| They got online multiplayer, a real time map, improved AI, and naval units. The basic complaints of the original.

And that's BS that they can't change the controls. Steven Totilo specifically said he changed his to the fastest one. So add improved controls to the list as well.

I dunno, I enjoyed the original and this game has been on my radar but that's about it. I've been more excited for it to hopefully be a solid addition to the Wii's library than a game I'm dying to get. I've still had every intention on playing it and if the reviews are good enough and the online is solid then I'd buy it. As low as a 7.5 could be enough for me to still buy it depending on what the flaws are. In a few ways this helps and hinders. I'll wait and see. I'll play it for sure but for right now my '07 guarantees stand at Galaxy, Resident Evil, Medal of Honor and I think Guitar Hero. Nitrobike is actually high on my list too. Then Zack & Wiki and finally Bwii.

I'm not planning on getting this or MOH: H2. I just have no interest in those games. No offline multiplayer is a joke.

I went back and played Battalion Wars for the GC just the other day for the first time in a year or so. I quit playing it for a long time because it had some major pacing issues at the beginning (what, with all the tutorials and whatnot). But when I went back and played a little further, I LOVED it! I've been extremely addicted to it for about a week now.

Needless to say, I went out today and reserved it (along with Galaxy).

If its anything like the GC version (which is what IGN suggests) then I KNOW I'll enjoy it. Plus, they seemingly corrected the biggest flaw of the first one and added multiplayer (Wi-Fi baby!)

I saw a 10 minutes video on GoNintendo. I'm fairly impressed on what game is. I skipped the original game. Don't ask me why I don't know. The guy on video (by the way it's not RawMeat from GoNintendo who played on it) was satisfied with the single campaign.

I think it's going to be online feature that could disappoint. The servers are not booted yet. We'll have to wait.

The game is still on my maybe list to buy. I might have to wait to have a price cut to buy it.

Buying it still but really disapointed cuz theres no offline multiplayer.
