Hopefully Retro had some ideas and such shelved from the first three that might be able to make it into part four possibly cutting into development time.

Mixed feelings...

...but really I just want the next Metroid Prime game to be the best damn Metroid Prime game it can be.

So I guess I don't care how long it takes. Plenty of other games to play.

Just happy they aren't rushing it through development. Take whatever time is necessary to make it the best it can be. :)

Yeah, agreed.

I just hope that Retro was also working on something else that is close to release.

it will not be retro by themselves.

the video says retro will still be working with kensuke tanabe as producer.

This was not the first time there had been problems with development with Metroid Prime as the first game had issues to where Shigeru Miyamoto had to confront Retro on them. Fortunately, the issues where settled and Metroid Prime turned out to be a good game.

I commented a little on this yesterday, but I pretty much agree it sucks that MP4's progress was scrapped, but it's good that they're bringing in Retro and trying to make a worthy sequel.

I think it would be great if they brought the Metroid Prime Trilogy to the Switch, or if they are developing a 2D one in the meantime.

For MP4, I hope that the rival hunters from MPH make a return to the story. Possibly even as playable allies or for a new multiplayer mode.

Hmm yeah, I am sure they had something going.

It sucks a lot ... but at the same time, i'm glad to known the game will probably be good when it finally gets released ... hopefully this time they will allow Retro to develop some of the ideas they had for Metroid Prime 3, like an open world game with bounties for Samus to hunt.

Anyway, i'm disappointed but optimistic.

I'm definitely more happy than disappointed at this news. It's a shame that the wait is going to be long, but I'm encouraged that Nintendo enforced some standards. As a bonus, Retro is back in the driver seat. That last bit has me excited because Retro knows what they're doing. I've waited over ten years for another game in the Prime style, so I reckon I can wait a few more. The transparency is appreciated.

Gotta respect Nintendo here for being willing to start over when things weren't going well, and being upfront about the situation. This is still disappointing though. I suspect the new MP4 will play things a bit safer than what was originally planned. But with Retro on board, it will at least be polished to a glossy shine.

That sounds awesome. There could be a few different planets and space stations to visit, and optional quests along with story ones. They could probably even have rival hunters pop up from time to time when you're on these missions. ; )
