Whoever gives out the awards is a moron. IGN seemed thoroughly unimpressed with the game and they are usually the first to hype any game that looks remotely good.
I saw some vids of people playing that game at Lepzig and there were some kind of competition thing between people with an announcer and a huge screen and stuff.
I suppose that's why it brought so much attention.
Oh wow. I'm quite aghast. I can't really think of why that would happen. Maybe Mario and Sonic is actually going to be a good game. Will it truly be better than Galaxy and Prime 3? Oh God, I hope not.
Honestly, I don't expect this to be the best Wii game. Not on the same level as Prime or Galaxy.
But all of you crying foul need to be quiet until you've played all of the games. You cannot claim that one game is better than another, having never played either. Stop being blindly loyal to games you have not even played, and stop the blind hate of games you expect to be bad,

These quotes are utterly ridiculous.
The title of "Best Wii Game" doesn't necessarily mean that they think Mario and Sonic will be the better game. It means that it put on the best show at the convention. It impressed the most people. That is probably because no one ever expected much from it.
Galaxy and Prime may have met expectations, but those expectations were very high. Mario and Sonic exceeded expectations, and rather than complaining that it got more recognition, you should be happy that another quality Wii title may be on the way.
None of this changes the games that Prime 3 and Galaxy are going to be. It doesn't affect any thing in any way.
I'm intrigued with the archery game. It has the control scheme that I originally heard twilight princess was going to have. Like, an actual motion sensing version of using a bow and arrow. (i just followed the link to the IGN preview from Liepzig page)
Mario and Sonic @ the Olympics looks terrible except for the archery event. Giving it top honors at Leipzig over Galaxy and MP3 is a slap to the face for Wii owners.

Honestly, I can't see why something like SMG didn't get this award. Mario and Sonic looks to me like nothing more than a cheap, lame cash-in on the two characters' names. To me it seems like nothing more than another thrown-together minigame collection with the Mario name smacked on it in order to sell copies. But I'll admit that there might be something more to it now that it's gotten this much attention at LGC.
No offense to the people doing the nomiating and awarding, but come on, Spore didn't even get a nomination in the PC category. Sure, it may not be the "best of show" but it certainly should have been nominated. Anyway, with that, and now this, I'm just going to sort of ignore these awards. =\
It seems like some games are being rushed and this seems like a game that could of had more depth and it would make a bit more sence if were to release the game near the beijing olympic games
