Just bought a New 3DS XL. Advice for game pickups.

A couple months ago I said I would pick up a 3DS this year and being a man of my word I did just that.
I initially had my eyes set on the New 2DS XL, but I found a New 3DS XL at a fantastic price, so I couldn't pass it up.

Now, just need some game recommendations. To make it easier for you I will list genres I enjoy.

Action/Adventure, Platformers, Beat'em ups, Shooters, Racing games, Sports, Point and Click Adventure titles. Basically anything besides RPGs and Puzzle games. Hope that helps, thanks.

There are plenty others including loads of quality 3rd-party games like Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Shin Megami Tensei and so on.

Rhythm Heaven is also loads of fun if you want something casual and quick to play.

I can keep going but I don't want to overwhelm you with games like Pokemon, Animal Crossing and so on so forth.

I recommend having a sizable SD card for it and make it a digital exclusive console. It's very invigorating to have so many games at your disposal just button presses away from playing.

other games I own- Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7, Super Smash Bros. They're all ok but not as good as the ones above.

I will get to Samus Returns someday, hoping I can put that in the top list.

Link Between Worlds and Samus Returns are pretty great.

I got the New 3DS XL for only $100 in like new condition. It came with the power supply as well, so I couldn't pass up such a great deal.

@emgesp: Zelda Majora's Mask, Zelda Link Between Worlds, super Mario 3D Land, Kirby Planet Robobot, the Zero Escape trilogy (first game is on DS, but yay backwards compatibility!), Metroid Samus Returns, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Monster Hunter Generations, Smash Bros. Lots of great digital titles as well if you're open to that.

Another game that hasn't been mentioned is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. It's side-scrolling and is Castlevania evolved. Although there were better recommendations, I loved A Link Between Worlds and really want to get Metroid: Samus returns.

The list of 3DS "must buys" is possibly longer than any other console/handheld ever made. All I'll say is don't sleep on Luigi's Mansion.

Can't hurt to go all the way back to DS, I'd strongly recommend Super Mario 64 DS if you haven't played it.

On the 3DS side, Ocarina of Time is a must.

I love monster hunter

Metal Gear solid: Snake Eater, since you have the two analog sticks. Best game!

I’d recommend animal crossing new leaf and monster hunter. Both these games will last you for many hours. Animal crossing especially is a great time sink.
