that would be awesome... using the gamepad to have off-tv play on wii games...
put i think it would require a complete overhaul of the wii emulator or coding...because you would need the option to switch to the gamepad at the wii start up menu.
How would that even be possible? point the remote at your TV with the sensor bar but look at the gamepad? Seems inconvenient. Not necessarily using it as a controller, just having the out put there and still using the normal Wiimote + Nunchuck

The Wii U's bread and butter is its GamePad. Nintendo thrives on unique novelties, and the tablet-like controller fits the bill. One of its biggest perks is that it lets you play your games without a TV. If you were hoping to do that with your old Wii games, though, think again.
The Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii, but those old games will be tied to your TV. "Wii Mode" will only work with the original system's controllers and accessories. So if you want to play Super Mario Galaxy, you'll need the classic WiiMote and Nunchuk.
the wiiu game pad does not have a sensor bar, it has a reciever for the sensor bar,  it has also six axis  like a ps3 controller ,Â
and even if the wiiu pad has a sensor bar- its not for wii games at allÂ
There is 0% chance that will ever happan.
If you have to ask why, go sit in a corner and think about it for 1 second. That should be more than enough time for anyone get to the answer.
[QUOTE="OreoMilkshake"]The gamepad has a sensor bar on it, :o I didn't know that. Why exactly did they do that? I imagine that in Mario Golf, the tablet will display your ball on a tee, and you will swing the Wii Mote over it so it can decide if you hooked or sliced.[QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"] How would that even be possible? point the remote at your TV with the sensor bar but look at the gamepad?
